I was going to find Ecthelion and ask about training, but I got distracted.
Elladan: *has been riding his horse at the racetrack, and after a quick bath has decided to try the swimming pool*
Finrod: *is in that area, not just exploring but planning to find Ecthelion, only keeps getting distracted*
Elladan: *approaches the swimming pool, dressed in one of these strange swim shorts*
Finrod: *nearly runs into him* Oh, I am sorry!
Elladan: *whirls around, smiles and falls into the pool*
Finrod: *kneels down offering a hand to help him out, seeing he clearly can swim* I am sorry!
Elladan: *resurfaces* Not your fault. *takes his hand and comes out* Hello, I am Elladan, son of Elrond. *looks at the elf, and decides he is not a younger version of Glorfindel*
Finrod: *really, feels very contrite for causing him to fall in!* Findaráto, son of Arafinwë.
Elladan: *grabs a towel* Well met, Findaráto. *grins*
Finrod: *sheepish grin* If you insist. Again, I apologize.
Elladan: Apology accepted, but really, it wasn't your fault. I was planning to get into the pool anyway. *has read about him, but not about to pester him with questions* I believe we are related.
Finrod: *cocks his head* Are we really? I'm sorry, I admit I do not recognise your name...
Elladan: I am sure you don't. I am the king's great great grandson. Long story, Elven and Human lines merging... Idril had a son who had two sons and one of them is my father.
Finrod: Oh! *grins a bit* Well, that makes sense.
Elladan: Yes, though grandfather was certainly shocked when I showed up here. Idril is not even married yet, I think. Have you been here for long?
Finrod: *cannot imagine Idril old enough to marry, but then when he saw her last she was centuries younger; forgets this* Not long, no! Have you?
Elladan: Two weeks maybe, and I had a return to Aman and back. It was strange. I lived in the castle fir a few days but I'm very used to wander around. I was in the wilderland with my twin most of the time.
Finrod: A bit longer than me, then. You have a twin? *intrigued*
Elladan: *tiny mental pain* Yes, and we were very close. We share a mental link that's gone now. At least I saw him when I was taken back.
Finrod: *nods* How is it you could get back?
Elladan: I have no idea. I was speaking with a healer, Alagoss, who was there when Arákano died. We were walking around the city and suddenly we were walking toward Tirion. We forgot what happened here, and only I was returned.
Finrod: This place is so incredibly strange!
Elladan: *nods* It is, but I believe Alagoss came here to save Arakáno. Your cousin is here too, and he is alive.
Finrod: *grins* I have met him. We're sharing a house, actually.
Elladan: Oh, I see. Is he better? I saw him at the place and he still looked sick.
Finrod: He says he is recovering. He seems to be, though I did not see him...before.
Elladan: He must be well if he's moved out. I'm glad he is not alone. He seemed to be younger than I. I lived in Ennorath for millennia before I sailed West with Elrohir.
Finrod: The relative ages of people is the strangest thing about this place!
Elladan: *starts feeling cold, so he puts on a shirt* Yes, it's amazing, isn't it? I saw Maglor a few days ago. He raised my father, so it was good to see him. I also met Caranthir, who is so young that I could not reconcile him with the elf I read about.
Finrod: I have not run into either of them yet, but I imagine I will be as surprised as you! Makalaurë raised your father?
Elladan: Yes... It's a complicated story... *thinks that Finrod wouldn't know about it anyway* Forgive me for asking but when do you come from?
Finrod: I'll read about it, eventually, I imagine! *getting used to this question now* I'm from three hundred years ago, I've been told. The Ice.
Elladan: Oh... I suppose you'll read about it. When you read just remember that my father loves Maglor as if he were his real father.
Finrod: *confused and curious* I will remember that... And you? When are you from? The future, clearly...
Elladan: Yes, I was in Aman when I was brought here. I was a bit bored... and the Valar sent me here. *grins* I don't really think they did, but I'm here now anyway. I am a guard of the Gates now, which allows me to see the outside of the city.
Finrod: Oh, that is good! I imagine they need reinforcements with so many arriving at random.
Elladan: Yes. I wonder how many people the city can sustain. There are Humans too, and other interesting creatures, or so I've been told.
Finrod: It's all very...chaotic.
Elladan: Are you missing your home in Tirion?
Finrod: Not...yet.
Elladan: *smiles* I met your father in Tirion.
Finrod: Did you really? *intrigued, though when he pauses a moment to think logically, this makes perfect sense*
Elladan: It was an audience of sorts, as a new arrival to Tirion and part of the family. He is the King, after all. He was nice and welcomed my twin and I into the city.
Finrod: *nods* That is good. *cannot really recall any instance of his father being unkind* I do not blame you for finding Tirion boring though!
Elladan: Was it boring for you too?
Finrod: Not always. But I can imagine, for someone who roamed wild lands... It's a bit tame.
Elladan: Yes, it was. My brother and I were always hunting Sauron's creatures down. They hurt our mother. At least she is all right now.
Finrod: I'm sorry. I am glad she is alright now. I can understand your drive.
Elladan: Aman healed her, but my twin and needed to kill those creatures and could never stop... I suppose there are some outside the city.
Finrod: *nods* It's a dangerous feeling...
Elladan: Yes... *hadn't realized it until now, that the Orcs where out there* When I first came here I ran into Celegorm... Tyelkormo, and he said I could go out hunting with him. I was thinking of escaping the city back then
Finrod: *curious* Will you still go hunting with him?
Elladan: If he ever remembers to organize the hunting trip. Ecthelion told me that they would go out together first. But I won't escape. I can't do that to grandfather. *hopes he doesn't spot an Orc*
Finrod: *nods; still would like to explore the world outside the city*
Elladan: Do you like hunting?
Finrod: Yes! At least, I like riding out with the hunt. I can shoot, but only if I need to.
Elladan: Then we should talk to Ecthelion. I don't think we can make Tyelkormo hurry up. Unless you know how. I've only met him once and he thought I was Lúthien.
Finrod: Knowing Tyelkormo, I cannot believe he has not been out hunting already. *not entirely sure he wants to go hunting with Celegorm now*
Elladan: He must be distracted with something else. It was Ecthelion who told me I would have to wait to go out. *won't tell Finrod all he knows Tyelkormo did*
Finrod: Well, asking Ecthelion sounds reasonable! Sure they must need to hunt for food?
Elladan: Yes, there are parties already. Tyelkormo got permission from grandfather But I don't think his will be the first party to ever go out.
Finrod: Oh. I suppose there is a reason? I am unclear on all of the...security precautions they've got in place.
Elladan: This is a hidden city... Lord Ulmo told Grandfather about this place and he brought his people here. I don't know why Fingon is here too, but it is dangerous out there. Morgoth is still out there with your Uncle's silmarils.
Finrod: *nods* It seems at some point the city won't be able to hold any more people.
Elladan: Then maybe some of us will return... I actually know what happens next, but I am hoping it doesn't happen
Finrod: *vague smile* I've been told I can read the future in House of History. I have not, yet, but I wonder if the future will be the same as what's written, with these time inconsistencies.
Elladan: Maybe not. Grandfather also knows what happens, so maybe he can do something about it. *shakes his head* We are here now, so we can help. Would you care to have a drink? Not alcohol, but something refreshing. They have a nice place called cafeteria here.
Finrod: I would like that very much, Elladan.
Elladan: My treat then. *smiles and leads him away*
Finrod: *goes along with him* You said something before about Elven and Human lines mixing... What did you mean? *curious*
Elladan: Well, Idril will marry a Human, and Lúthien will also marry a Human. So their children will be half-elves, and will get married. My father and his twin will be born then.
Finrod: Oh, that is interesting!
Elladan: Actually, Idril and Tuor are living in Aman. Will be living in Aman, I mean. So will my father's parents. My father and his twin made different choices. Elros became a King of Men, and my father lived the life on an Elf.
Finrod: That can happen? *smiles* I'm sorry, clearly I know next to nothing about Men.
Elladan: It was a special permission for Tuor. It was different for Lúthien, though. She and Beren returned from the dead to live the lives of Men. My brother and I made the choice to sail West. but our sister decided to stay in Ennorath... She died and we sailed only then.
Finrod: I am sorry...
Elladan: *they enter the cafeteria and take a seat* Thank you for your words. It was hard to lose her, but she chose to marry a King of Men.
I have to go but I'll be back
Finrod: Perhaps I will need to read, or else I will forever be in the dark!
Elladan: *smiles* Perhaps, but take your time. It's a lot of history to take.
Finrod: *nods* Yes, I imagine I'll have to go in sections! *with a glass of wine or two*
Elladan: *nods and orders some drinks for them*
It is nice to meet new people, but future family feels very strange! I like him though.
Elladan: *has been riding his horse at the racetrack, and after a quick bath has decided to try the swimming pool*
