Trying to escape... and failing...

I was thinking that maybe I shouldn't be here, as not everyone seemed to remember me when Turgon came in to visit. He comes every day to see me. I'm glad he came today...

Turgon: *cancelled an appointment to make a daily visit to the House of Healing*

Arakano: *sitting on the bed and trying once again to make his legs work before Alagoss returns*

Turgon: *knocks*

Arakano: *curses under his breath, thinking it's a healer* Come in...

Turgon: *lets himself in* And how's the little elf feeling today? *has a gift in hand*

Arakano: *thinks he is not a little elf anymore, but is very glad to see Turgon* I am well, brother.

Turgon: Wonderful. *sits and offers the small wrapped box*

Arakano: *starts to unwrap the gift* Thank you. I would go crazy here if you didn't visit me.

Turgon: It's just some books to keep you entertained in bed. We've gotten a printing press up and running, so I had quite the selection to choose for you.

Arakano: *smiles* This is quite a collection! Even something about those vessels sailing up the sky... I hope they are written in Quenya, Turgon *is trying to get used to his brother's Sindarin name* I can understand the language, or speak it, but I cannot read it at all. I suppose I'll have to learn eventually.

Turgon: I'll hire you a tutor. Arakano, are you interested in a Sindarin name?

Arakano: Thank you. I would like to be able to read when I leave this bed. A Sindarin name? I don't know...

Turgon: Your choice. The strange translation that goes through my city doesn't apply to the books, so I did make sure to give you what you're familiar with. *picks up the books* This one is a translation of a book from the future, about a trip to see Tilion in a metal craft, and this... *holds out another* is a history of this age, and this one... *traces over the cover* is a silly romance that I have a fondness for. It's quite long.

Arakano: Metal craft? That should be interesting! I have heard good things about your city, brother. I'm glad I ended up here. *smiles* You always were fond of romance stories. How are you? Are you well?

Turgon: I'm well. How much have you been told about what happened since your death?

Arakano: *thinks he might stil die, but keeps quiet* All of it, how Findekano and you died. How Papa died. *sighs* How everyone but a few died.

Turgon: *little nod* So you know about my wife.

Arakano: I was there when she died, though maybe you do not remember it. I believe many here do not remember me, so maybe I came for a little while so you knew I was there.

Turgon: Right. Right. I'm sorry. Things are just... things are weird. Have you met any humans yet? Any of the human healers come to see you?

Arakano: It's okay. Things are weird for me too. I have seen the human healers. They look so different... Is it true they live only for a few years?

Turgon: Seventy years at best. Unless they've got elf blood.

Arakano: That's a short life span... *falls silent, manages to move his legs a bit, and then simply lays back dow on the bed* I want to leave this place, Turuk... Turgon.

Turgon: I have the healers working at their best for you. I want you out of here soon. *reaches out to take Arakano's hand* I've already prepared a room in my palace for you.

Arakano: *hopes that Alagoss keeps his promise, but wonders if this will get him in trouble with Turgon* I am hoping to be able to stand on my feet soon, so I can go there with you.

Turgon: I should ask your physician for an update...

Arakano: But Alagoss said I will be able to walk soon. That was the main problem, wasnt it?

Turgon: I still like to hear it from the healer themself. I'll be right back. Look at your books *gets up*

Arakano: *nods and sighs softly*

Turgon: *ruffles his brother's hair and goes to seek Alagoss*

Alagoss: *looks at Arakano's blood tests and frowns*

Turgon: Alagoss? I'm here to get an update on Arakano.

Alagoss: *hopes Arakano forgives him* Greetings, sire. I was going to look for you. These are Arakano's blood tests. They are not good, not at all.

Turgon: ...not good how? *sinking feeling in his stomach*

Alagoss: He has what healers of the future call pernicious anemia, probably due to the extensive damage he suffered when he almost died. He is not responding to treatment... and he refuses blood transfusions. I was going to tell you before, sire, but Arakano said he would return to the place he came from if I did.

Turgon: So the needing my blood you mentioned has come to pass?

Alagoss: Yes, sire. And of Lord Fingon's blood too, but only if you and him have Arakano's type. Even if you are his brothers, you might have another blood type.

Turgon: Well! Let's get started. I won't die, right?

Alagoss: No, but Arakano won't accept it easily. He said that maybe he is not supposed to be here at all.

Turgon: Well, he's young and foolish.

Alagoss: *nods* Come with me, sire. Let me take a drop of your blood. I have Arakano's type, and he's a B+. Hopefully you are B+ too. *takes the blood, and once he has the result, sighs in relief* You can only give him a small part of your blood. I should test Lord Fingon too, and whatever family you have. Let's go to his room again. *another healer follows with the equipment*

Arakano: *is out of his room, books in hand, trying to escape the healing house*

Turgon: I could try to find where Aredhel's gone to...

Alagoss: Maybe she will show up, if not maybe one of your cousins could... *trails off* Where is he now?

Turgon: ...Arakano?

Arakano *can't walk anymore so he gets into a bed in the humans' area and pretends to sleep, making sure his ears are hidden by his hair, and hiding the books under the covers*

Alagoss: We wll find him, sire. I had forgotten how stubborn he can be... *goes out, an sends his aides in search of Arakano*

Turgon: Am I going to have to get my guards in? How can you lose a patient!

Alagoss: I m deeply sorry, sire. I didn't know he could walk by himself! I believe this story of others not remembering him have hit Arakano a bit too hard. Artists can be like that...

Turgon: Find him!

Alagoss: *nods and tries to think of a place where an Elf would hide* Come with me, please. I believe I know where he is. *they enter the area where the humans are and see a healer arguing with a patient* There he is...

Arakano: *to a human healer* Just let me sleep, all right? *sees them, and looks guilty *

Turgon: ARAKANO.

Arakano: sits up, books in his hands* I wanted to see what is outside of this place before I... He told you, didn't he? *refuses to look at Alagoss*

Turgon: And I've given him blood. Don't act like a fool.

Arakano: *angry* I'm not a fool! *sighs* Findekano said you burned my body... I am supposed to be dead, Turgon. I don't want you or him to die too. Alagoss said I would need your blood not once, but many times.

Alagoss: *wishes Arakano had heard the whole explanation before saying no*

Turgon: I've learned from my injuries that blood comes back.

Alagoss: It's only a little blood everyday, Arakano. We saw you die once, we will not see you die again.

Arakano: *looks down* I am sorry. I guess I wasn't thinking right...

Turgon: Let me make sure you don't die this time, little brother. *holds his hand* And let's get you back to your bed.

Arakano: *nods and slides his feet to the floor* I don't think I can walk...

Turgon: *helps him*

Alagoss: *follows them, ready to offer a wheelchair if necessary. They finally get back to Arakano's room*
