In which I find my cousin Findarato...

I think I missed the festival, but working in the House of Satari was an interesting experience. I want to earn my own living...

Arakano: *massages his temples, trying to stop a headache* I will never drink so much beer again... Not today at least.. *sits on a bench in the park, away from the noise in the street*

Finrod: *feels a bit better having eaten and slept; wandering through the park when he sees a familiar face* Cousin?

Arakano: *thinks he is hearing things but looks up anyway* Findarato? *stands up*

Finrod: Arakano! I did not know you were here... *pleased smile*

Arakano: *is glad Findarato doesn't seem to be too old or too young* Have you just arrived? *big smile, hugs his cousin*

Finrod: *embraces in return* Yes, just the other day. *sheepish grin I slept most of that*

Arakano: Where did you sleep? I'm so glad you are here! *wants to ask more but stops himself*

Finrod: A room in the palace. Do you live in the palace too?

Arakano: Ah... No... I was there but then... I left. I've been sleeping in a House they have here. I am sure Turukano was glad to see you.

Finrod: I think so... He said an awful lot of things that didn't make sense though. And he called me Finrod? *clearly has not made sense of the time inconsistencies*

Arakano: Do you want something to eat? *has been working in the House of Satari so he has money* There is a place... The Drunken Maia. I could explain a bit more. Where were you when you came here?

Finrod: I would like that. Last thing I remember was the Ice...

Arakano: *leads him across the street* I see... Well, there is a place called the House of History here, and I can tell you that we managed to cross the ice and even lived in Endor for a while. There were other Elves here, and they spoke a different language. They called this place Ennorath.

Finrod: Ennorath. Will you show me this place? Maybe after lunch, or if we pass it... I'd like to read the histories! Where...when? were you before coming here? Were you always here?

Arakano: Well, we are in Ennorath, or Middle-earth in the common tongue... This is Turukano's secret city, Gondolin. And no, I wasn't always here. *they reach the Drunken Maia and take a seat. Arakano orders food and drink for them* I crossed the ice with you all and as soon as we set foot on Endor... Moringotto's creatures attacked us. To make the story short, we defetaed them, I cut off the captain's head, but died. I came here in the process of dying so Alagoss, my old friend, saved me.

Finrod: *stares with a mixture of shock and horror and sadness, mouth hanging open* ...Oh. *speechless*

Arakano: *smiles a bit* Don't worry, cousin. It's okay... *has been talking to a man in the House of Satari* I am alive. *sick but alive*

Finrod: Well, I am glad you're alive! And that I am alive too. *takes a few bites of lunch*

Arakano: You do look a little pale. I still remember the cold... Are you all right?

Finrod: I think so. Turukano insisted a healer check me. I think it is just so long without proper food or rest... *trails off lamely, shrugging a little* You know.

Arakano: I remember how we all felt. So eat now. *thinks of the palace and his brothers, misses them* How was Turukano? There was a festival, but I missed it.

Finrod: *considers* He seemed a little...frazzled. I confess I did not pay much attention, I was just glad to recognise him.

Arakano: I see... Findekano is here too, and more than half of our other cousins. Morifinwë looks younger than I!

Finrod: Morifinwe! *amused grin at the thought of him being younger than Arakano, but it fades when he thinks of the ships* How strange...

Arakano: I know what they did, but Moryo is so young he didn't even have time to swear the Oath.

Finrod: Ohh... Well, that is something. *intrigued* Tell me who else is here! In the city.

Arakano: Maglor, from the far future. I saw him the other day. Turko, I stayed in his place for a night, so I didn't have time to ask where did he come. I know Maitimo is here and so is Uncle Fëanaro. Ecthelion is here too, but he was originally here.

Finrod: *a little disappointed none of his brothers or sister are there, but at least people he knows* It feels so strange that hundreds of years have passed!

Arakano: I know... Maybe your brothers will show up too. I have read about them, but you will have time to do that.

Finrod: *nods* Yes! *always did like reading*

Arakano: *not all of it is good, but he won't tell Findarato now*

Finrod: *switches topics*This food is very strange, but I like it.

Arakakano: Local cuisine, different ingredients and many strange machines. You get used to eat. Do you want more wine or beer? *is drinking juice as he drank too much last night*

Finrod: Maybe just one more glass of wine. *it's warming* What other strange things?

Arakano: Oh, machines from the future, and systems that warm houses and much more. There is also this House of Artifacts where... *a drunk elf places a hand on his shoulder*

Drunk Elf: Come with me. I want a drink now!

Finrod: *sees Arakano's startled look; looks up, frowning deeply* Let go of my friend, sir.

Drunk Elf: Or what? I know he wants to come with me.

Arakano: You presume too much! *tries to reach for his knife but the other Elf is quicker and stronger*

Finrod: *jumps up, shock and horror making his reaction a touch slower than it otherwise would be* Let go!

Arakano: *a knife at his throat* Stop, Findarato! *doesn´t want his cousin to get into a fight*

Finrod: *opens his mouth to protest, but freezes, doesn't want to get Arakano hurt*

Drunk Elf: Findarato...? *lets go of Arakano* I didn't know he was yours, my lord.

Arakano: *wants to hit the elf but security takes him away* I... *sits down* Thank you, cousin.

Finrod: *watches the security guards take the other elf away; sits again belatedly* ...You're welcome, Arakano. *thinks he hardly did anything* Who was that? *nearly as shaken as Arakano looks, maybe more*

Arakano: *hands trembling a bit, asks for an ale* I have been working in this House of Satari, serving the drinks there. This house... you can find companionship, of different sorts. I even found a nice guy with whom to speak about my... problems. This elf who just came, he got in his head that I was there for something else. He doesn't know who I am, and well, I was hardly going to mention I am Turukano's brother if I wanted a job serving drinks. *shrugs, rubs his neck, there is a small cut in it* He recognized your name, but nobody here knows me.

Finrod: Arakano... *feels terribly sad for him, and anger toward the elf; frowns, unsure* What can I do?

Arakano: *smiles, trying to make it light* Stay around? *looks down* I just didn't feel well in my brother's palace. I needed a place to live, but I didn't want to be in the guard. I am good with the sword when I don't get killed but for now... I don't know, cousin. I suppose that elf believes I am your lover or worse.

Finrod: *can see through his smile, though is not sure what has gone on between the brothers* I will, cousin. Stay around, I mean. You know, you could live with me, if you want. I heard someone talk about the apartments... I suppose it wouldn't dispel any rumour of involvement between us, but... *shrugs; if it protects his cousin from being attacked, let them think what they will*

Arakano: *relaxes some, Findarato is the age he remembered and that makes him feel comfortable around him* I would like that. I don't care much about rumours, but I don't want Turukano to hear about this... this that just happened here... So you are not staying in the castle?

Finrod: I won't tell him, if that's what you wish... *though it makes him a little uncomfortable when the elf just insinuated something so vile* I thought about it! But I am curious about the apartments or houses. And I'd like to explore, not get stuck in council. *grins a little*

Arakano: Thank you. I just don't want him to worry. *smiles, feels better* Maybe we could go there and explore a bit? I will certainly find another job. Someone might recognize me... *or that elf could wait for him, but Arakano doesn't want to admit he is afraid of him*

Finrod: *nods eagerly* We will both find something, and explore the whole city and beyond!

Arakano: *raises his cup* Cheers! It will be fun!

Finrod: *raises his cup too, clinking it against Arakano's* To fun!

I am so happy Findarato is here! It is almost as if we had been walking on the ice a few days ago, and now we are here...
