Turukáno found me...
We had a long talk...
Turgon: *knocks on the door*
Arakano: *has slept well, wonders who is out there, picks his knife* Who is it?
Turgon: it's your brother!
Arakano: That sounds like Turukano... *opens the door, knife held loosely in his hand* Hello... Are you alone?
Turgon: Yes. Who would I bring that would make you need that?
Arakano: No, no... I just thought you would come with your guards, not alone. You are the king, after all. Come in, Turukano.
Turgon: And you'd pull a knife on my guards? *comes in, taking a seat*
Arakano: *confused* No! Why would I do that? I just didn't think it was you or Findekano.
Turgon: Then please tell me why you think you need a knife in my city, Arakano. *worried look up at him*
Arakano: *sits down, knife still in hand* Well, not everyone is nice in your city, and not everyone knows who I am.
Turgon: And who was... not nice to you? *concerned*
Arakano: Ah... There was this elf who thought I wanted to have sex with him. He showed up while I was dining with Findarato in the Drunken Maia. Findarato lives here too...
Turgon: Did you report this to the guards?
Arakano: No, but the security of the place took the guy away.
Turgon: *reaches out to take the knife* We have a law system in this city so you don't have to hide in your rooms with a knife, little brother. *worried voice*
Arakano: *feels uneasy without the knife in his hands* I know. I just thought it could be him. I don't want him to hurt Findarato because he helped me.
Turgon: This is what I'm trying to tell you, we have a system for this. Have you been hurt? *worried*
Arakano: *looks at his knife, hopes Turukano doesn't take it away* All right. Do you think the Drunken Maia's people would tell the guards? The elf let me go because he thought... *shrugs* He recognized Findarato's name. *shakes his head* Just a tiny cut in my neck. It's nothing.
Turgon: Oh, I expect so. Most of their clientèle is guard. I'm surprised it's become so popular with the other types.
Arakano: This elf probably tracked me down...
Turgon: I'll keep you safe, Arakano
Arakano: *relieved he doesn't have to explain more* Thank you, brother.
Turgon: So why did you leave like you did? I didn't understand your note.
Arakano: I was feeling left out from all the festival activity, but I suppose I am still too sick to work hard on anything.
Turgon: That was my main reason for not forcing you into it like I did poor Fingon. I thought if you attended, you'd have more fun as a guest.
Arakano: I just can't get over this weird feeling, you know? I heard Lord Namo's call, and then I was here. I wasn't at the festival, but next year I will be.
Turgon: The spring one will be upon us soon. Do you want to help Fingon with it? I've put him in charge of handling those matters.
Arakano: I would like that. *smiles* Can I have my knife back? *tries not to sound anxious*
Turgon: *frowns, but hands it back* I want you to go to the guards if you're threatened, brother. Not take matters into your own hands.
Arakano: Thank you. *fingers it while speaking* I only tried to defend myself. I can't let people attack me and wait for the guards to come. I'm not a coward, Turukano.
Turgon: That's not an act of cowardice, brother. It's just a way to avoid blood on your hands.
Arakano: *frowns* I have blood on my hands. I followed Findekano into the first kinslaying. *pauses* I won't go around stabbing people, but I have to protect myself. I'm just still sick, so... That elf could have hurt Findarato and it would have been my fault.
Turgon: it would not have been your fault. And... let's not talk of the kinslaying.
Arakano: *nods, he still killed many Teleri in that battle* I was too slow to defend myself, so the other elf put a knife to my throat to take me away. Findarato stood, and I don't think he had a knife. I told him to stop, and the guy recognized his name and... *looks down* He let me go.
Turgon: *making a mental note to make SURE this elf is dealt with* I'm sorry, Arakano. *squeezes his hand*
Arakano: *keeps the last part to himself, so Turukano doesn't have to deal with those rumors too* I guess I was not ready to walk around alone, but I'll learn. Don't worry, brother.
Turgon: I can't really figure out why you were attacked that way, however.
Arakano: I got a job, and that elf got the wrong idea. That's all. Maybe I did something... *is starting to doubt himself*
Turgon: I doubt there's anything yo can do that would give any good person the idea they had the right to cart you off with a knife.
Arakano: *freezes*
Turgon: What? What did I say?
Arakano: N-nothing! You are right. All I did was serve the drinks...
Turgon: Serve the drinks? *raises an eyebrow, getting an Idea* Where did you serve the drinks?
Arakano: In the House of Satari... I had to find a place to stay, and I had to pay for my room. I know what Satari is, so I don't know why that elf...
Turgon: *little nod* Well, even if you were performing the full duties of the Satari, that gives no one the right to hurt you. If there's people starting to believe they can do this to my citizens, it looks like I'll have to talk to Lio about providing more protection to that house. It's good to see you found a job, brother. *soothing voice*
Arakano: I will not be going back. As for performing the full duties... I'm not qualified, and I'm not interested.
Turgon: Ah well. There'll be other things you can do.
Arakano: Yes... *looks down, sets the knife aside* Will you do something... question that elf...?
Turgon: I believe I'm going to have him arrested for assault. And he sounds dangerous, so I'll let Lio decide what to do next
Arakano: Oh... Then you'd better know why he let me go...
Turgon: Why did he let you go?
Arakano: *cheeks red* He thought I was Findaráto's whore.
Turgon: *raises an eyebrow* Well, that's one way to defend yourself. And I'm feeling skin-crawly hearing things like this in my city.
Arakano: I don't like to be called a whore. *eyes dark, takes the knife again* I just thought you'd want to know before he tells that to your guards. I'm the king's brother... It might not be good if your guards think...
Turgon: No one should call someone that. I'll inform Lio of the circumstances.
Arakano: Maybe I did something... *sighs* Just have Lio be the one to question him, please. Few people know who I am, but they know who Findarato is. I don't want people to think he...
Turgon: As you wish.
Arakano: Thank you. *looks at the knife* I don't want to have to use it. I know you've seen more blood than I, but I don't want to use this, and I know I will if someone ever attacks me again.
Turgon: I would really really prefer if you didn't, brother.
Arakano: I know... I just want... I don't know what I want. I'm sorry I give you all this trouble.
Turgon: That's what little brothers are for, really.
Arakano: *relaxes some* Thank you.
Turgon: So this is where you want to live?
Arakano: *nods* Yes. Findarato and I come almost from the same timeline. It's different with everyone else. It's not that I don't want to live with you. I don't feel well... I feel... I don't know how to explain but it helps to live with someone who was in the ice with me a few weeks ago. And I like Findarato. He is really one of our nicest cousins.
Turgon: He is. And I trust him to take care of you.
Arakano: Thank you for understanding, brother.
It was good to see Turukáno. I will still train with the knife, just in case...
Turgon: *knocks on the door*
