In which I meet Findekáno...
I'm happy I found my elder brother. The last time I saw him I was too sick to have a chat...
Arakano: *feeling calmer since he found out there is a house where he can take advanced painting classes, he is walking in the street and enjoying the fresh air*
Fingon: *is wandering around somewhat idly, on his way to go and get tea. Pauses when he sees someone familiar up ahead, then speeds up to join him* Little brother! How ARE you? *goes to hug him*
Arakano: *starts a bit, but hugs him back* Findekáno! You surprised me! I'm well. How are you, brother?
Fingon: *grins at him* Pretty well, And you?
Arakano: I'm fine. I am living with Findarato now, and I no longer need blood transfusions.
Fingon: That's wonderful. smiles I'ts been a while since we've talked, I know. Would you like to come and get some tea with me, maybe? I was about to go over.
Arakano: Yes, I would like that. Turukáno said you have been busy with the festival. I'm glad to see you. *hopes they don't go to the Drunken Maia after what happened there* Where are we going?
Fingon: To one of the cafes. It's not far. And we can people watch in the process!
Arakano: Good! What is a cafe?
Fingon: Well they serve things that aren't acohol mostly. Teas and pastries and this thing called coffee that came in from...I don't actually remember where it's from but it really helps you stay awake if you need to.
Arakano: *that would be useful after nights without sleep* Let's go! *makes sure his knife is at hand*
Fingon: *leads the way* So what have you been up to now that you're free of the healers? Anything interesting?
Arakano: I have been working... *maybe speaking about being assaulted is not a good theme of conversation...* I decided it would be better to change jobs so I looked around and found out that there is a house of arts, or something like that. I will go there later. It will be good to paint again.
Fingon: An artist, hmm? *smiles* You were always so good with that.
Arakano: *beams* Thank you, brother! I thought I could take more classes and maybe teach the young ones. I need a job... What about you? What are you doing now that the festival is over?
Fingon: *well, technically is pretending he doesn't have a thing for Maedhros but he's not telling his brother THAT* Well, not a lot right now. Assessing things from it a bit and trying to determine what other events we have coming up. But nothing terribly exciting.
Arakano: *looks at him* I heard some of our cousins are here. I actually met Moryo, who now is younger than I *grins* Maitimo must be here... *remembers his brother was always hanging out with Maitimo in Tirion*
Fingon: Well yes, yes he is. He helped with the festival preparations so we work together a lot. You'll have to see him again soon. I'm sure he'd like that.
Arakano: *smiles, wonders, and decides not to ask* I'd like to see him again. I wonder if... I know we all come from different times. I've read a bit about the family by now. Where were you when you came here, brother?
Fingon: That's probably for the best, really Oh I didn't actually come from...anywhere else. I came here to help after Turu started reporting people were arriving. It just...I had to see it for myself. And I think, given the versions of my story I've seen, that I got really really lucky. It was probably kind of traumatic for you to end up here.
Arakano: So you simply left Hithlum... *glad Findekano did not have to die in that battle he read about* It was traumatic because I heard Namo's call and then I was here.
Fingon: Yes, that's all I did. *nods at him* I can imagine waking up here after that was....well. Not pleasant anyway. I'm glad you're better.
Arakano: No, it was not pleasant, and for a long while I wondered if I should simply die, but I am better now. I wish I could help Turukano more, but right now I can't...
Fingon: Well, you can help by creating beautiful things for now. Those are always something we're in need of.
Arakano: I could paint... This is a beautiful city... *an Elf rushes past them and Arakano jumps, alarmed*
Fingon: Are you okay? What's wrong?
Arakano: *after a couple of deep calming breaths* I'm fine... Is that the cafe? *has cut his hand with the knife* Oh, this is ridiculous...
Fingon: Just up ahead. *frowns* You're bleeding. We should clean that *pulling a cloth from a pouch he was wearing to dab at it*
Arakano: It's nothing... *allows Findekáno to take care of it* I just... This city is beautiful, but it can be dangerous too. I was attacked a few days ago. I guess I'm still...
Fingon: Attacked? *frowns* Who woud dare do something like that here? You reported it right?
Arakano: No, I didn't report it, but Turukáno knows. There was this elf who saw me working at the House of Satari. I was serving the drinks to pay for my room. They didn't know who I was, I mean, yours and Turukano's brother. I know it was a silly idea to leave the castle but... The elf followed me around and got the wrong idea, and tried to take me away with a knife at my throat.
Fingon: But sometimes you just need to get away? *nods* That's terrible though. That should NOT have happened. Just because you were working there is no reason... *frowns* I'm glad he knows, though.
Arakano: *nods* I was supposed to be dead, so I needed to get away, get myself together, that sort of thing... I am glad he didn't attack Findaráto, who was with me. The Drunken Maia's security people took the elf away. I will get over this.
Fingon: It's horrible that things like that are happening. I mean, especially to you on top of that. *shaking his head* I'm sorry that happened.
Arakano: Don't worry. I should have known better... *remembers Turukano said it was not his fault* I was sick and not fast enough to defend myself. I should practice more with the knife...
Fingon: well you can't know when people are going to attack you. But that may be a good idea yes, in case it happens again.
Arakano: *glad that Findekáno agrees with him* I'm happy you are here, brother.
Fingon: I"m glad you're here too. Hey, if you'd like me to practice with you I definitely could do that.
Arakano: *smiles* We could do that sometime! I am rusty, and even if we have guards it's better to be ready just in case.
Fingon: Definitely. I could use some practice too!
Arakano: We'll do it then, but for now I would like to taste that coffee you mentioned.
Fingon: Follow me! *goes to lead him inside and order*
Arakano: *smiles and follows him*
So glad Findekáno will practice with me! I need to get better with that knife. Just in case...
