I'm going to be ticked if he dies a second time
It looks like my brother's got his share of bad luck. I'm going to ask Lio to have someone watch over him, although as subtly as possible. Arakano has always struck me as someone who wouldn't want a babysitter.
Turgon: *lets Gwaedhon in once the healer has left*
Gwaedhon: Sir *bows to the king and steps inside* Hello, prince Arakano. I have some questions for you
Arakano: *feeling better, no longer in bed but sitting in a comfortable armchair* Of course.
Gwaedhon: your attacker seems to have vanished on us again. *sits across* Tell me about the torches.
Turgon: *sits nearby to intervene if Arakano gets upset*
Arakano: *looks at Turukano, and then back at Gwaedhon* Well... I was trying to defend myself *pauses, is embarrassed he was not that successful* I was on the ground trying to push... him off me and suddenly there were torches in the night. I heard them speak, they wanted me and him.
Gwaedhon: Did you see any faces? Anything you could identify later?
Arakano: thinks No, it was dark, but the voices... they were Elves unless Humans know how to set a spell on us. There was an Elf who grabbed me. He was dark-haired, maybe...
Gwaedhon: *writes notes* we found your knife, but that's evidence for now.
Arakano: I cut my attacker's arm. I can't remember where I lost it.
Gwaedhon: *looks up at Turgon before continuing* we used it to trace a path to where the attack happened.
Arakano: My knife? *confused, looks at Turukano* Did I kill him?
Turgon: *reassures Arakano* you haven't killed anyone
Gwaedhon: no, but there were drops, and more at the scene of the attack
Arakano: More what?
Gwaedhon: blood. Not enough for it to be a serious injury, ,but...
Arakano: But he's vanished?
Gwaedhon: *considers replies, settles for the most soothing one* He seems to be very much gone.
Arakano: They were going to take me too... Turukáno, they called me Prince. This was no simple attack.
Turgon: *reaches out to take Arakano's shoulder* we have something very wrong going on in this city, I know
Gwaedhon: but this is a good clue. *flips his notebook shut* I must go report to the captain, sires
Arakano: They could try to take Findekáno, just to get to you. *looks at Gwaedhon, nods*
Turgon: Lio will know what to do for protection, Arakano. And you will be safe
Arakano: I am a grown Elf. I should be able to protect myself.
Turgon: you're still recovering. And as older brother, it's my job to watch out for you.
Arakano: *nods* I have a sword, you know? But I didn't have it with me when I was attacked again.
Turgon: judging from how you described the attack, I don't think a sword would have helped.
Turgon: the knife was more effective
Arakano: Maybe... Uncle Féanaro gave me the sword.
Turgon: he's given out quite a lot of weapons lately. I worry about his fixation. Are you feeling more steady on your feet?
Arakano: He has many swords and knives. Yes, I think I feel better now. Do you think Findaráto would worry that I didn't come to sleep last night?
Turgon: Yes, especially since I forgot to tell him you were with me. Let's get you there and hope he's in
Turgon: I cannot wait until we have the phone system up
Arakano: *nods* Thank you for coming last night, brother.
Turgon: I'll always come
If whoever that elf is has become a third victim, well, couldn't happen to a better elf and you know what, I've got to stop thinking people are worthy of death. This is a bad path to go down, after Eol. I still keep thinking about Maeglin as a 'problem'.
Mnnng.
