Theoden: *lets himself in with coffee* Feanor?
Fëanor: *staring at an item on his work table* Yes? Oh, hello, Theo.
Theoden: would you like to go out today?
Fëanor: You know, I think that's a good idea.

Theoden: great. *offers Feanor his drink* what are you working on there?
Fëanor: Something like a palantir... *sips the coffee* Thanks.
Theoden: oh! Can you show me when we get back? *opens the door for Feanor*
Fëanor: It's not working the way I want it to yet. But when it's done, I'll show you. *follows him out, locking the door behind him*
Theoden: it's a deal. *reaches out and takes Feanor's hand for a quick squeeze, because the being with Feanor still gives him a thrill*
Fëanor: *smiles at him* Where are we going?
Theoden: Well, I thought about taking you to the House of Artificers, but that always ends with you absorbed in something so I thought I'd show you an ent
Fëanor: An ent?
Theoden: they're living trees. I thought it might interest you. And a good excuse to sit in the park
Fëanor: Living trees, hmm? At least it's a nice day.
Theoden: it is. It was so rainy yesterday
Fëanor: This is the rainy season here, right?
Theoden: It's always the rainy season here.
Theoden: I think this is the rainIER season
Fëanor: It always rains? Bah.
Theoden: yeah, but I've only seen snow a handful of times, so that's the tradeoff, I guess.
Fëanor: I miss the weather in Valinor... it was so nice there. *rarely will admit to missing ANYTHING there*
Theoden: I miss Rohan. I even miss the fields of snow that was winter.
Fëanor: It was very snowy there?
Theoden: we had the four seasons. And we really had winter
Fëanor: Do you wish you were back there? *looks around the park for the talking tree*
Theoden: Yeah. I miss my family. I had a big one. Of course, turns out I have quite a lot of family here too... *sits them on a bench, near the 'do not bother Greentwig' sign* My roommate? Actually my son
Fëanor: ...what?
Theoden: that was my reaction! Along with hitting his shoulder. We've talked it out though. *kicks his feet* it explains why we look like twins, though
Fëanor: It does, yes. *peers at Theo* Are you okay with it?
Theoden: well. I think I was more embarrassed than anything. I'd uh, told him a lot of things I wouldn't have said if I'd known. *squirms*
Fëanor: Like?
Theoden: just... well, it was good I had someone to talk to. Sex stuff.
Fëanor: Oh, I see. *thinks* Well, in this timeline, he's not really your son, is he?
Theoden: unless I go back and get married. I'm worried though. He seemed to think I hated him and was disappointed in him. Future me, I mean. I can't see why, he seems like a great guy
Fëanor: Yes, but even if you do... it's probably not the same version of him? I mean... I think it helps to think of it that way. *pauses* And maybe the other you in his timeline was not as nice?
Theoden: that's a terrible thought. Poor Dred.
Fëanor: Sorry, I was trying to cheer you. *glances at the talking tree, trying to see a mouth*
Theoden: I mean, I just feel bad for Dred. I have problems with my father sometimes, but I never thought he thought I was a failure. A bit clumsy and daydreamy, but...
Greentwig: *drifting gently in the breeze*
Fëanor: Well, maybe it's helping Dred to know you here, instead.
Theoden: hope so. I really do like him. *rests against Feanor* I got to see the ent move when my cat ran up it and she tried to murder him
Fëanor: The tree tried to murder your cat?
Theoden: Apparently she doesn't like being climbed. He got out safely. Your son said something that made him come out
Fëanor: Oh, Turkafinwë.... yes, he'd be good at that.
Greentwig: *slowly raises her branches up above her 'head' for a moment before lowering them, like stretching*
Fëanor: *stares* Ooh...
Theoden: *grins at Feanor's reaction*
Fëanor: I've not seen one of these before...
Theoden: she would have helped prove I wasn't crazy, if I could show her to everyone back home
Fëanor: What does she have to do with you being crazy?
Theoden: when I was younger, my friend Elfhild talked me into going to Fangorn forest with her and things got weird and when we managed to run out, I swore a tree tried to stomp on me. And no one believed me. But they're real! *points* they are!
Fëanor: They do look real. *grins*
Theoden: it was terrifying. And of course, Elfhild just kept laughing afterwards and then it wasn't SO scary. I miss her too. *plays with Feanor's fingers*
Fëanor: *still staring at the ent* Maybe she'll show up here, with the rest of your family.
Theoden: that'd be nice. She'd like being a guard, I bet. And I miss my sisters so much. Of course, explaining you might be a bit weird, but I could manage it
Fëanor: *smiles* So you don't want to go back, you just want people to come here.
Theoden: I just want to be around them. It was really... lonely, being here a year without anyone. Then I met Dred, and the cat decided I was his, and things have looked up since.
Fëanor: Well, that's better then.
Theoden: *nod* and you've got loads of family here
Fëanor: Some...
Theoden: maybe a grandkid will show up
Fëanor: I only have one of those.
Theoden: I didn't even know I had any until I met one the other day
Fëanor: You have a grandson? Dred's child?
Theoden: no, apparently I raised someone else's and they had a kid.
Theoden: the idea of me adopting other kids isn't that weird to me
Theoden: I mean, I took in Dagnir
Fëanor: *laughs* That's a cat.
Theoden: yeah, that's true. He can feed himself better than a kid
Theoden: the problem is when he goes after tihngs that can talk
Fëanor: Like what?
Theoden: Apparently our world is full of things that can think and speak and sometimes those things are birds and sometimes my cat thinks those are food
Fëanor: Wait, talking trees AND talking birds?
Theoden: mhm. *not gonna tell Feanor how the birds were scamming Dred*
Theoden: the wargs can talk too. Well, to each other. They're not just animals
Fëanor: How do you know the birds can talk? And the wargs? How do you know?
Theoden: I heard the birds talking, and they're registered as citizens, and I know about wargs because we were briefed on them at the guardhouse when more information was brought forward. They're descendants from werewolves.
Fëanor: Reallly.... *considers this* Interesting...
Theoden: And back home, we had special horses as smart as a man who lived just as long. The more I learn, the more I'm glad I don't eat much meat
Fëanor: Well, you probably wouldn't eat a warg.....
Theoden: I'm just waiting to find out the sheep are sapient and want to know why we've been shaving and eating them all this time
Fëanor: Where would I find these birds?
Theoden: I have no idea where they live. They're a pair of big black ravens. I've only ever seen one, Dred's seen the other. And I KNOW they spend time with that Dunlending
Fëanor: *files this information away; they could be useful*
Theoden: *finishes off his coffee* so I managed to show you new things?
Fëanor: *nods* Yes, you have.
Theoden: good. I like being able to do that
Fëanor: Thank you. *smiles*
Theoden: *kisses*
Fëanor: *kisses* You're a good city guide.
Theoden: *happy warm feeling*

I'm fairly sure he's not going to dissect me now.
