Home again home again oh wait DISTRACTION

Going home! And now I crave those fried potato things. Thanks, Feanor.

Theoden: *packing up his armour to go home from the House of Healing after his overnight stay and heads out, glad to see sunlight again after spending all day in the sewers yesterday and all night cooped up inside*

Fingon: *making his way over to the houses, having heard Theo was hurt and wondering if he's okay or not*

Theoden: *spots him and waves, with his left arm since he went and got his right shoulder stabbed*

Fingon: Theo. Good, I didn't miss you! Are you all right? Can I be of some help?

Theoden: you could carry my breastplate? You'll be my hero if you do

Fingon: Of course *Smiles*

Theoden: *beams up at him gratefully* I have to get this back to the armoury before I go home.

Fingon: Oh I can walk it then! Easy.

Theoden: how's the romantic life?

Fingon: *grins* It's good. How about you?

Theoden: well, I got to see Feanor blood-covered. That was interesting. He came to check on me, which was sweet...

Fingon: Aww that IS adorable

Theoden: yeah. He really seemed to be enjoying the killing part. That'd be why so many people warned me off, right?

Fingon: Well... yeah generally

Theoden: hmm. I can see your point. Still, he came to check on me, he rescued me, and I really really adore him. So I guess I can look past the way he smiled when he was swording people

Fingon: *smiles* Well, and he was doing it for a good cause this time. I won't say I trust my uncle entirely but

Fingon: Perhaps he's mellowing

Theoden: he's careful with me. Somewhat

Fingon: *smiles* Well good then. That's important

Theoden: It is. I'm glad it was me who got hurt, instead of Theodred or Boromir

Fingon: You care about them a lot. *smiles* I'm glad you weren't hurt WORSE, myself

Theoden: well, I care about Theodred a lot. I'm still learning about Boromir

Theoden: it's just stitches. *tugs his sleeve down to show Fingon* gonna leave a cool scar

Fingon: Oh those are nice. And you have a really cool story

Theoden: it was weird and creepy down there. And then people with swords around every corner.

Fingon: Eru. *nodding* That must have been a clusterfuck

Theoden: I spent most of it in the dark. I lost my torch, and had to feel around. *thinking* Oh! You want to do me a big favour? Help me find an artificer with your delightful authority to help me get glasses for Dred

Theoden: it turns out he can barely see

Fingon: and he's a guard? *frowning* Well this explains a LOT. Of course I can

Theoden: thank you! This way I won't get shooed out. I mean, I thought I could have. Detooour. *grabs Fingon's arm and heads to the House of Artificers, chattering about what he learned about glasses from the people he saw wearing them*

Fingon: *Nodding intently as they go along* that's fascinating. I'd seen people WEARING them but had no idea WHY

Theoden: I thought they might be decorative, but I noticed that sometimes their eyes seemed bigger or smaller behind them, so I asked.

Fingon: And this makes me wonder if there are others. These things are so new that it would be easy for someone to not notice a problem they were having, wouldn't it?

Theoden: I think Dred thought everyone saw like him and he just wasn't very good.

Theoden: *pretty unhappy to say that*

Fingon: Oh Dear. *making a face* That has to be... I can't imagine.

Theoden: so! I'm going to help. *steps inside* I think the glassmaking area is near the back

Fingon: *goes along with him to help*

Theoden: *lets Fingon handle interrupting the workers to see who can make lenses and takes a moment to examine the shinies while he waits*

Fingon: *and he's politely clearing his throat*

Artificer: *the one in charge of this section* Prince Fingon! *low bow* Welcome! What can I do for you and your little friend?

Theoden: *knows he's tall for a human, DAMNIT*

Fingon: Well, we've come on behalf of a third friend in search of some of the...glasses.

Artificer: *politely looks at all the various types of glass around them, with a 'what?' smile* ...anything specific, sire?

Fingon: Oh I'm sorry. The ones for seeing that people have been wearing on their eyes.

Artificer: One moment, sirs. *bustles away to ask various artificers if any of them specialize that and does finally find one and brings them up*

Second Artificer: *a dwarven woman, not that you can tell, that gives a half-curtsy*

Fingon: *smiles at her* Thank you for helping us ,first of all.

Second Artificer: an honour, I assure you. *gruffly*

Fingon: We were hoping to have some of the eyeglasses made for a friend. He's in the guard and hasn't realized how bad his eyes are before they came about. \

Second Artificer: I'll have to see him, but I can do that right enough.

Fingon: Oh good then! That does make sense,. *smiles*

Theoden: great! Thank you so much, sir

Fingon: Yes, indeed thank you. *Oh Theo, didn't you see the curtsey?*

Second Artificer: Bring him in whenever. I'll make time.

Fingon: *actually do dwarves mind being misgendered or is that considered not a problem culturally?*

Theoden: *cheerful when they get out* thank you, Fingon. *pecks his cheek*

Fingon: *is going to have to go look this up*

Fingon: You're very welcome! *smiles at him.* So all that remains is getting Dred there. *he's going to look this up BEFORE he tells Theo his thoughts on the gender issue*

Theoden: I bet I can get him to come in.

Theoden: it can only help him

Fingon: I think so too.

Theoden: *gets rid of his armour* and now I think I get a whole two days sick leave. I will spend it reading a new poetry book, I think

Fingon: Well deserved, I'd say!

You know, I don't actually interact with a lot of dwarves. I wonder if Dred has.
