The one where I visit the House of Healing
I visited Lio today. He looked worse than I imagined, but I intend to change all that. A few weeks at my house will have him as good as before. Better, even. So good that he may not want to leave...
Celegorm: *carefully tiptoes in to Lio's room, wondering if anyone will bark at him for coming in.* Umm...*looks around*
Ecthelion: *lying in bed, staring out the window, bored; turns with a smile* Hi!
Celegorm: *smiles back, relieved* Oh, good, you're awake. The nurse warned me not to wake you up. *drags a chair over to the bed and sits*
Ecthelion: They're big on rest here. That's all I've heard since I've been awake. "You need rest!"
Celegorm: Well, they do have a point. The more you rest, the sooner you'll be back to your old self. I was out hunting when I heard what happened and came over here as soon as I could...I'm sorry I wasn't able to come before now.
Ecthelion: That's okay. I guess I was in a coma there for a while, so I wouldn't have noticed. *wry grin*
Celegorm: *feels awful* I know...I heard about that, too. *reaches for his hand* I was worried. I still am, I guess.
Ecthelion: *squeezes his hand* It's all right. I'm okay - the healers said they got me here fast, and they were able to give me some blood -- they call it tranfusion? to replace what I'd lost.
Celegorm: What exactly happened? I know you're a strong fighter.
Ecthelion: I saw one of the cult members going after Finrod. I had armor on, and he didn't, so I stepped between them. Lucky guy hit me in the right place and the blade slid right in. *winces a bit, remembering*
Celegorm: So you were trying to be a hero. *grins* That's so very you. I do think, though, that I should look at designing some more efficient armor for you. I don't want this to happen again.
Ecthelion: Would you please? Because I'd like to avoid it as well.
Celegorm: *chuckles* Consider it done. *looks around* How much longer will you be in here?
Ecthelion: They said at least a week. And then I'm to go home, with "someone to help me." *rolls his eyes*
Celegorm: Oh. Well...you know...since Maitimo moved out, I have a spare room. I mean, if you need someone to help you, I can. If you want me to, that is. I looked after my brothers when they were ill, so I do have that much going for me.
Ecthelion: *grateful look* Would you really? Turu said he'd arrange for someone to stay with me, but I'd much rather it be someone I know. Like you.
Celegorm: *grins like an idiot* Yes, of course. I'll make sure the house is clean and everything is ready.
Ecthelion: *squeezes his hand again, tugging him a little closer* Thanks. That'll be so much better.
Celegorm: *leans forward and kisses Lio's forehead* You know I'd do just about anything for you, right? And I'm not sure I'd trust anyone else to take as good care of you as I will. Is there anything in particular you need? Should I swing by your place and pick up anything?
Ecthelion: *nuzzles his neck; hadn't known, but is very glad to hear it* No need to rush, since I won't be leaving here for a week. Mostly comfy pajamas, I'd think. *chuckles* I'll make a list and you can pick up the stuff.
Celegorm: Comfy pjs I can handle. You like to read, right? I'll run by the library and get some of their newest books. Oh, and snacks! I'll make a run through the market, too. *grins* It's been a long time since I've had someone to take care of.
Ecthelion: Lots of books. I will be soooo bored. And snacks sound great! *grins at him* I can't say I'm glad to give you the opportunity, but at least it works out.
Celegorm: You won't be bored. I'll make sure of it. *squeezes his hand again* And I'll have an opportunity to try out my new recipes. It's hard to cook for one. Huan has had some excellent leftovers.
Ecthelion: He'll have to share with me! And I'm sure the healers will prep you on changing my bandages and when to allow me out of bed and so on... *sighs*
Celegorm: Actually, I have more experience with bandages and dressings than the rest of the caretaking tasks. When you're on the battlefield, you do what you must to help the men who serve under you. *leans forward* Will you show me the wound?
Ecthelion: *nods, and unbuttons his pajama top, twisting a bit to peel back the bandages* There...
Celegorm: *studies it, frowning* You're lucky to be alive. A centimeter or two in the other direction and you wouldn't be here to tell the tale. *carefully reapplies the bandage*
Ecthelion: *nods* That's what they said.
Celegorm: *slowly rebuttons Lio's pajama top* I don't know what I would have done if anything had happened to you. *gives a little smile* From here on, try not to get yourself killed...or nearly killed.
Ecthelion: *touches a finger to his cheek* I promise. I have no desire to do this again.
Celegorm: *captures his finger and brings it to his lips* I intend to hold you to it. I plan to spend the next few weeks nursing you back to health, and I don't want my good work to be undone. *grins*
Ecthelion: *minute shiver* I'll be good, I promise. *grins* Everyone wants me to rest and relax. I think I'll be fine with a nurse like you.
Celegorm: I'll make sure you rest and relax until you're completely healthy. And then I shall give you no rest at all. *winks*
Ecthelion: Okay, that's the most tempting part of recovery so far. *grins*
Celegorm: Mmmhmm...added incentive to recover quickly. Just think of all the fun we can't have until you're well.
Ecthelion: *groans* No, I shouldn't! *laughs*
Celegorm: *chuckles* It'll give you something to look forward to.
Ecthelion: Indeed. *right now is just looking pale*
Celegorm: *leans forward and gives him a soft kiss* You look tired. Why don't you close your eyes for a bit? I'll stay here until they toss me out.
Ecthelion: *would argue but IS feeling tired* Okay... but don't leave too soon. *smiles and closes his eyes, still holding on to Celegorm's hand*
Celegorm: *gives his hand a squeeze* Don't worry. I'm not going anywhere.
Celegorm: *carefully tiptoes in to Lio's room, wondering if anyone will bark at him for coming in.* Umm...*looks around*
