Aredhel: One, yes. But you have to try to win one, okay?

Booth Runner: *sells Ar a tiny paper net for Maeglin to use*

Maeglin: *splashes it into the water, tearing it immediately* o.o

Aredhel: *soothing noises and pets his hair* Uh oh. Want to try again? You have to be careful and set it in carefully to catch the fish

Maeglin: kay. *frowns and holds out his hand for another*

Booth Runner: here you go. Remember what she said, carefully

Maeglin: *goes so slow this time that the fish escape before the net dissolves*

Aredhel: *laughs softly and gives him a warm kiss to his head* Shall mommy try?

Aredhel: Oh, I didn't know Turu had set one up! Would you direct us there? He'd love to pet the animals

Booth Runner: See that big fence around the ent? Go around it and you'll find where the animals are *points*

Greentwig: *enjoying the festivities, but glad they put up a 'do not touch' fence around her for the time being'*

Aredhel: *smiles at him* Thank you. *holds her hand out to Mae to take* Want to see the animals, Mae?

Maeglin: yes! An' my fish is named Eol!

Aredhel: *frowns, slowing down* Why Eol?

Maeglin: 'cause he's a black fishie

Maeglin: like daddy!

Aredhel: *small sigh and squeezes his hand, walking again* If you're sure. But I think there are better names, my dear son

Maeglin: like what?

Aredhel: How about Blacky?

Maeglin: *considers* he black...

Aredhel: *laughs* Bloopy is a good name

Greentwig: *waves a branch at the passing Ar and Mae*

Maeglin: *freezes and stares up*

Aredhel: *squeezes Mae's hand* This is an ent, Mae. Her name is Greentwig.

Greentwig: *long pause while Mae stands and stares* Hello

Maeglin: *SQUEAK*

Aredhel: Be polite and say hello, Maeglin!

Maeglin: H-hello!

Aredhel: Hello, Greentwig. We're heading to the petting zoo

Greentwig: very good, princess *says slowly, then goes back to being still*

Maeglin: o.o *holds super tight to his mom's hand*

Aredhel: *smiles at Greentwig and rubs the back of Mae's hand with her thumb* Shall we continue, love?

Maeglin: *quick nod*

Eressil: *with her volunteers is presiding over farm animal babies donated by the farmers, and the tamer of the animals she's acquired*

Maeglin: *RUNS TO THE PUPPIES*

Aredhel: Remember, be careful! They're just babies! *follows him, ready to intervene if she needs to*

Maeglin: *absolutely enchanted by a yorkie puppy*


Puppy: *licking his face all over*

Aredhel: *smiles and ruffles his hair* I see you like the puppy

Eressil: they're up for adoption, you know.

Maeglin: *looks at her hair* Poofy!

Aredhel: Yes, she's quite poofy. *looks at Eressil* Don't tell him that, he'll want to take them home!

Eressil: *laughs* that's my plan!

Maeglin: *heard adoption*PUPPY?

Aredhel: You're too small, Mae. You wouldn't be able to care for the puppy

Maeglin: I WOULD TOO

Puppy: *curled up in Mae's arms happily*

Aredhel: No, you wouldn't. *pets his hair* Because you have to feed them, take them for walks, clean up after them...

Maeglin: I can! I can! I can!

Aredhel: And if you don't?

Maeglin: it loves me *big eyes*

Puppy: *licking his chin*

Aredhel: Oh Maeglin... We don't have the time for a puppy.

Maeglin: *huge tiny elf eyes*

Aredhel: *sighs and pulls him close* All right. *kisses his head* We'll take this puppy. *to Eressil*

Eressil: *triumphant!* it's good for a child to have a companion

Aredhel: Yes, but he's still so small. He doesn't understand the responsibility of it. *pets the puppy anyway*

Eressil: He'll be a good companion to you too. Well, she will be.

Aredhel: *smiles* All right. Thank you. *cuddles her son and the puppy* What do I owe you for it?

Eressil: the adoption's free. But if you ever want to donate your time helping at the animal sanctuary, we'd appreciate that

Aredhel: *smiles at her* I'll certainly come by sometime to help out!

Eressil: wonderful! Bring your son, we'll have animals he can't take home that I'm sure he'd love to see

Maeglin: *sitting down and talking in toddler to his new dog*

Aredhel: *nods* I will bring him as well. *smiles at the scene* He loves small animals. He's been after Turu's dog this whole time

Eressil: *grins* He might like big ones. Make sure to see our oliphaunt

Aredhel: *smiles* Oliphaunt... that must be a large creature, right?

Eressil: It will grow bigger than Greentwig

Aredhel: That's incredible! Is it small right now, or a large one?

Eressil: bigger than a horse. I've got high hopes. *eyes sparkling of someone who just sees the cool and not the it will kill us all*

Aredhel: *smiles, amused at her enthusiasm* I'm glad you have great creatures to take care of! I hope there's enough room in the city for them, though

Eressil: we're building a pen outside the city. The king, er, suggested it

Turgon: *told her in no uncertain terms that it had to be out of the city before it was too big to walk through the gates*

Aredhel: *nods* Good. If it'll get that large, I don't know that there'd be space here!

Eressil: I could use the extra space for some of my animals, so it's not *so* bad...

Maeglin: *laying down now playing with the puppy and giggling*

Aredhel: *smiles at Mae, watching him, and nods at Eressil's comment* True. I haven't had the chance yet to visit the animal sanctuary. It sounds wonderful

Eressil: come any time! *gives instructions on where to find food and dog things for the puppy*

Maeglin: momma! Her name's Fluffy!

Aredhel: *smiles* That's a good name, "Fluffy". She looks very fluffy

Maeglin: *can easily hold her in his arms*

Aredhel: *kisses his head* Are you happy?

Maeglin: uh huh!

Aredhel: Good. Want to stay here to play?

Maeglin: I wanna play with Fluffy

Aredhel: Okay. *sits beside him and plays with him and the puppy*

I'd hoped he'd forgotten about his father entirely by now. Even if I can't. Turgon would be livid if he knew I still loved Eol, after all that.
