The one where I have news...and so does Kano

I visited my dear brother today to deliver some news and ask for advice. Little did I know he had some news of his own.

Celegorm: *knocks on Maglor's door* Hey, you home?

Maglor: *answers* Hey! Come in.

Celegorm: *wanders in and looks around* What happened? It looks like a small hurricane tore through.

Maglor: Close. Have a seat. Want some wine?

Celegorm: *plops on the sofa* Yeah, I could use some.

Maglor: You and me both. *pours them both a generous glass and sits as well*

Celegorm: *takes a healthy gulp* I have news, and you're probably not going to like it...but it is what it is.

Maglor: I have some news too... But you first.

Celegorm: *takes another sip of wine* I found another silmaril. It's under the sink in the bathroom, lodged in the bottom of a box of cotton balls.

Maglor: *chokes on his wine, coughing* You what?

Celegorm: I know...and I'm a little worried it's a fire hazard, so I should probably find a better place to hide it.

Maglor: *takes another drink* Does anyone know?

Celegorm: You, Huan and one of the kittens. Huan won't say anything and I bribed the kitten with fish. I'm still debating if or how to tell Lio.

Maglor: ...Should you tell Lio?

Celegorm: I'm not sure. I suspect he'll want to tell Turu and that cannot happen. But I don't want to lie to him, either. *sigh*

Maglor: What about father?

Celegorm: And there's that. He knows about one and is actively looking for the rest. They rightfully belong in our family, but Father is crazy. I fear what he'd do if he actually found them all.

Maglor: *nods* I'm afraid that if we tell him about the second, he'll only be more driven to find the last. Being "so close" or something.

Celegorm: Agreed. But what about Lio? I'm really torn.

Maglor: I don't think Turgon should know...

Celegorm: *rubs his forehead* No, he'll want to take it and keep it for himself. That cannot happen. *looks despondent* I hate the thought of lying to Lio, though.

Maglor: Do you really think Turgon would want to take it? Moreover, do you think Lio would keep quiet if made to promise not to say a word?

Celegorm: Yes on the first one. He'd want to put in in the royal vault to "keep it safe" or some such rot, and I'm not having that. I'm not sure about Lio...he's Turu's best friend. I wonder if he'd choose to be loyal to me over him.

Maglor: *leans back against the sofa cushions* I think you should make that decision, Tyelko.

Celegorm: *wry grin* Thanks for the input. So, what is your news?

Maglor: *grins* I just mean, clearly you're very serious about him, and I don't want to force you to lie. My news is much less dire than yours. I don't know how much history you've read up on?

Celegorm: Depends on the history. I've read up on mine and Father's extensively.

Maglor: What about mine?

Celegorm: Not so much. *grins* You were next on the list, I swear.

Maglor: *grins back* Whatever. Anyway, to make a long story short, I ended up adopting two boys.

Celegorm: *eyes wide* YOU?! *laughs* Did you not have enough punishment managing all of your younger brothers?

Maglor: You hush! But apparently not. Twins, even, wouldn't you know? Anyway, one's ended up here.

Celegorm: Really? As an adult or a child?

Maglor: As a child.

Celegorm: *chuckles* I suppose it feels like old times for you. I take it you plan on re-raising him.

Maglor: *nods* Yes. That is, I can hardly leave you to do it. *grins*
Celegorm: Well no. I eat children for breakfast or leave them to die in the forest. *eyeroll* History paints a less than flattering picture of me.

Maglor: You and me both. You'll have to meet him.

Celegorm: I'd like that. Despite the rumors, I'm good with kids. Maeglin even likes me.

Maglor: *grins* So I've heard. You and me will be delightfully bad influences on him.

Celegorm: *chuckles* Irisse will kill both of us, but at least we'll die having fun.

Maglor: Exactly. I've spoken to her, we're going to try and get Maeglin and Elros together. There's a bit of an age gap, but at least they're both children.

Celegorm: Good point. So, how does Elros...end up? I'm guessing you saw him into adulthood the first time around.

Maglor: He ends up...well. He uh, chooses the life of the Edain.

Celegorm: Oh. *wonders why anyone would choose that* As long as he was happy, I guess.

Maglor: I hope that he was.

Celegorm: You didn't keep up with him? Make sure he was okay? Hover like you did with me?

Maglor: *fond eyeroll* Well, I tried for a long time. Then he went off to found a kingdom of Men on an island in the west.

Celegorm: Huh. That would make hovering difficult. *grins* Regardless, I think this is a good thing. It'll keep you occupied. *and away from Turu*

Maglor: That it will! And perhaps his brother will appear as well.

Celegorm: Are you sure you can manage two of them? You're not a young Elf anymore.
Maglor: *friendly smack* Shut up! I'll just give one to you.

Celegorm: *laughs* Lio would die. "Honey, guess what I have?"

Maglor: *laughs too* Well, you two DO seem to be becoming rather domestic...

Celegorm: We have a cat. *shakes his head* If that's not a sign of domestic bliss, I don't know what one is.

Maglor: *chuckles* Our little Cele, settling down at last...

Celegorm: It had to happen sometime.
Maglor: I am happy for you.

Celegorm: *grins* Thanks, bro. I'm happy for you, too.
