We've got to get that silmaril hidden away from Fëanor somehow. I think out of the city is probably our best bet.
Celegorm: *peers around the edge of a tree near the wall, then turns back to Lio* Are you sure about this? I mean, I'll totally sneak out, but I don't want you to get in trouble.
Ecthelion: I'm the captain of the guard, they're not going to stop me.
Celegorm: *grins* No, but Turu might throw a raging fit. You okay with that?
Ecthelion: *grins back* I'll handle it.
Celegorm: *squeezes his shoulder* Then, lead the way, Cap'n.
Ecthelion: *walks right through the gates, with Celegorm beside him; waves to the guards on duty*
Guards: *don't even blink*
Celegorm: *stifles a grin and follows him out* Easier than I thought.
Ecthelion: Well, I'm the boss. *already planning on how to break the new to Turgon*
Celegorm: Yes, sir. *gives him a salute*
Ecthelion: *grins at him, slowing their pace once they're outside the city gates* Now. Any ideas?
Celegorm: *shades his eyes and scans the horizon* Good question. *touches the silm in his pocket* This thing seems to call to Father, so somewhere it can't be heard quite so easily.
Ecthelion: *points to the hills in the distance* How about out there?
Celegorm: That's worth a shot. Let's head that direction and see if we see a good hiding place.
Ecthelion: *starts walking that way* Do you think we should bury it?
Celegorm: Well, that is one option. Tossing it into the bottom of a lake is another, though we'd have to worry about not being able to find it again ourselves if we did that. A cave would be too obvious.
Ecthelion: Yeah, I would be too afraid of the lake option. And you're right about the cave. But I think we need to put it in a place we'll be able to find it again. If necessary.
Celegorm: *watches an eagle slowly circle a nest in a tree high above them and has an idea* Hmm. What if we enlist some help? *cups his hands and calls out for the eagle*
Ecthelion: *looks up* Now there's an idea.
Celegorm: *watches as the eagle lands on a low tree branch next to the path* If he's willing to put the jewel in his nest, that is. *asks the eagle in birdspeak.*
Eagle: squawwwwkkkk! [agrees]
Ecthelion: *admires* It's so handy that you can do that.
Celegorm: *holds out the jewel. eagle takes it in one of his talons and flies off* It is a rather nice talent to have. Good thing I make friends with Vala easily.
Ecthelion: Good thing. *watching the eagle fly off* Where's his nest?
Celegorm: *points* The top of that tree over there. Not that it really matters. He said he'll keep it with him until I come back. *turns and grins* I may have just outsmarted my Father. That's saying something.
Ecthelion: *smiles back at him, although still faintly worried* I hope so.
Celegorm: *takes Lio's hand and gives it a little squeeze* It'll be fine. How will anyone be able to get to it all the way up there? It's a genius idea. *feels smug*
Ecthelion: *squeezes back, but those silmarils sure have a way of turning up* I guess you're right. I mean, your father can't fly.
Celegorm: *chuckles* Not that I'm aware of, but I wouldn't put it past him to try. Come on. Let's head back in...I'll treat you to dinner and a footrub.
Ecthelion: I suppose if anyone figures out how to fly, it would be him. *well now that's an alarming thought* I'll take you up on those offers.
Celegorm: *leans over and steals a kiss, feels like a load has been lifted off of his shoulders*
Ecthelion: *grins at him* You seem happy.
Celegorm: *grins back* I am! No more silmaril to worry about. No more threats from Father. I won't have to lie when I say I don't know exactly where it is. And I have a handsome Captain to come home to every night. What's not to be happy about?
Ecthelion: *laughs as they walk back to the city* I don't know, your life sounds pretty good, my friend.
Celegorm: It is better than I ever thought it could be.
Ecthelion: *stops and pulls him close to kiss* I'm glad. And I'm glad this is settled.
Celegorm: *kisses him back* Me, too. Now we can just concentrate on each other. I have a lot of concentrating ahead of me tonight...and I'm looking forward to it.
Ecthelion: *teasing* I think you may be trying to seduce me!
Celegorm: *grins* Is it working? *kisses again, softly*
Ecthelion: Oh, I dunno, I could play hard to get!
Celegorm: Then, I'd be forced to redouble my efforts. *kisses his earlobe*
Ecthelion: You might break down my defenses that way. *shivers*
Celegorm: *string of kisses along his neck* Might?
Ecthelion: Seems likely... *strokes a hand through Celegorm's hair*
Celegorm: *eyes smouldering* Good...*kisses again, heated* We should probably get back to the house while I can still control myself.
Ecthelion: Oh probably a good idea. *teasing* I don't want you to ravish me in the city streets.
Celegorm: The thought crossed my mind...*takes Lio's hand and heads toward home*
Now I just have to explain to Turu what happened.
