The one where I grab a complete stranger
I saw an Elf who I thought was Luthien. As it turns out, it was her great grandson. My mind is officially blown. I have to say though...he's nearly as lovely as she is.
Elladan: *has found a cloak and braided his hair in the manner of the Sindarin Elves so nobody recognizes him. Not that anyone has ever seen him before, but at least his grandmother is alive somewhere... He will leave Gondolin and look for the vale of Imladris, and wait there for someone to come, be it his father or his twin*
Celegorm: *whistles for Huan* Come! Let's go to the market and find something good to cook for dinner. I'm tired of soup. Maybe some lamb? *grins as Huan dashes ahead of him down the street toward the market*
Elladan: *buys a few things in the market and follows the farmerrs and traders that are about to leave the city. As he moves aside to let a mother with a child pass, the hood of his cloak falls down, showing his hair. He quickly puts it in place.*
Celegorm: *examines a selection of autumn vegetables and looks up to see a familiar face* ...Luthien...*eyes light up* Luthien! *takes a few steps forward, eyes locked on a lovely elf wearing a hood*
Elladan: *hears someone calling, but as it's not his name he walks faster. He is so distracted that he barely avoids a horse rushing through the road taking to one of the city's gates* Of all the...
Celegorm: *rushes after the pretty Elf* Luthien! Wait!
Huan: *runs after her, sniffs and stops* Woof! [that doesn't smell llike Luthien]
Celegorm: *runs up and grabs the Elf's elbow* Luthien!
Elladan: *whirls around* What are you doing?
Celegorm: *shocked, lets go of the elbow and blinks a few times.* You aren't Luthien. Who ARE you? *frowns*
Elladan: *looks at the other Elf and then at the big dog, his mind trying to make the connection* Of course I'm not Luthien, and you certainly are not Beren... Are you perhaps Daeron? *frowns back at the other Elf* My name is Elladan Elrondion.
Celegorm: Damn right I'm not Beren. *growls under his breath, "that asshole"* But you look nearly identical to Luthien. *leans in and studies Elladan's face* You could be her twin.
Elladan: Well, I'm not! Move back. Do you stop everyone who walks around and... *looks at the Elf and the dog again* Are you... Celegorm?
Celegorm: *eyes narrowed* I am. How did you know that? *doesn't move*
Huan: Woof! [He doesn't smell like he has been here long. smells more like horse poop]
Elladan: *frowns at Huan, turns to Celegorm* They said other Elves had come, and you have the dog... *tries to curb his temper* Look, LĂșthien was my great grandmother. They said my sister looked like her. Maybe that's why you... Can you please back off?
Celegorm: *eyes wide* Great grandmother...How far in the future did you live? *snaps his fingers for Huan to step back* I had just assumed you were one of Turgon's...subjects. *wrinkles his nose when he says Turgon's name*
Huan: *reluctantly steps back and sits at Celegorm's feet*
Elladan: I am Turgon's great grandson too. *sighs inwardly, he has said too much already* I was born in the Third Age, a long time after you... killed Dior.
Celegorm: *winces* Technically, I haven't killed him...or not here, anyway. Things are different now. No oath, nothing bad has happened. Nothing bad will happen, if I can help it.
Elladan: *tries to stay angry* Did you come after you battled with him? I was alive when something brought me here, but the information they gave me... Did you come here after killing him?
Celegorm: *looks him right in the eye* Yes. I ran him through with my sword just as he ran me through with his. We both died and I awakened here. I'm assuming death absolves me of my past. If not, then maybe Turgon can sprinkle me with some holy water or something.
Elladan: *less angry, and confused because he cannot hate Celegorm* If my father was able to forgive and love your brothers, then I suppose I can...
Celegorm: *cocks his head to one side* Your father? *squints at Elladan* Do you mean that you are Elrond or Elros' son?
Elladan: Elrond. I'm a Peredhel. I chose to live the life on an Elf.
Celegorm: Maitimo loved your father very much, as if he was his own son. He is here, too...*sighs* Such a complicated history.
Elladan: He is here? What about Maglor? I saw him once. He came to visit Papa when Elrohir and I were very young. *remembers Elrohir, remembers his mad plan, looks at the door ahead, already closing*
Celegorm: No, Maglor has not arrived, though I hope he will...*follows Elladan's eyes to the gate* You weren't thinking of leaving, were you? Turgon has strict rules about that. Traders and hunting parties only.
Elladan: Hunting parties? I wonder... I haven't visited Turgon yet, but I cannot stay here. My twin... *is not even born...*
Celegorm: You don't have to visit him, but you do need to be careful if you choose not to. His guards are like little rats, scurrying around and spying on everyone. *leans closer* If you truly want to leave for the day, you can join me on the next hunting trip...but if you leave on your own, it will be difficult to return. Gondolin is the hidden city, after all. Powerful magic guards it.
Elladan: *is tempted* I don't want to stay hidden from him, but I need to leave this place. Those walls... Would you allow me to leave for good once we are out of the city?
Celegorm: *shrugs* It's not my place to disallow you do do anything, but...where will you go? If you are from a time thousands of years from now, nobody you know will even be alive. Your brother and sister have not been born yet.
Elladan: As long as you don't get in problems with Turgon if I escape the city... *starts to see the sense in Celegorm's words* I wanted to leave Aman, you know? It was boring and now I am walled up in this place.
Celegorm: *grins* Screw Turgon. He'll get over it. *puts his hand on Elladan's shoulder* You don't have to be walled in. Come with me in two days time. We'll leave on an official hunting trip and do some exploring...we do have to return with some food, though.
Elladan *briefly wonders if Dior would dishonor him* All right, and thank you. I don't know how anyone could stand being inside a city all the time. You seem to understand... I'll go with you.
Celegorm: Good. If you haven't seen the swordsmith already, pay him a visit. The woodwork shop has a nice collection of bows and arrows, too. *squeezes Elladan's shoulder* It will be nice to get away.
Elladan: *feels comfortable talking to Celegorm, which is confusing* I'll be sure to pay him a visit. I need a sword too. I hope that is all right with Turgon.
Celegorm: It will be fine. And if it's not, I'll take it up with him. *Grins* I'll see you soon, Elladan. *leans closer and adds* You're just as lovely as your great grandmother. *turns to leave, calling Huan with a whistle*
Elladan: *manages not to blush* Good-bye...
