One of Lio's helpful little humans found a descendant of mine as a new arrival and got them set up.

I've been putting off getting acquainted due to the whole 'little brother coming back from the dead but still might die again' thing, but I do want to meet him.

Of course, in my experience, family seems to come with loads of complications.

I've had the histories that feature him sent and there's barely anything, besides a genealogy (seeing the chaos my cousins caused in his father's life noted as well), and so I've really got nothing to go on, besides the fact he's missing his twin.

I've sent a messenger with summons.

At the rate things are going, I'll meet your father soon enough to make the comparison. *carefully pours tea and hands it to Elladan*

I've had the privilege of meeting Luthien, she's on my council. There is a resemblance. Though you're distinctly more... not a woman.

And it's fine. I've been a bit overwhelmed. Your grand-uncle recently returned from the dead and I've been dealing with that, so the time to prepare has been good.

Probably, though I hope Elrohir is the one to come... *looks sad, sips at the tea, likes it*

I would like to meet her. It was my sister who looked more like her, so I suppose that's why... *stops himself just in time*

Oh no, Fingon's just fine and he better stay that way. No, my other brother. Arakano. He never even managed to live long enough in these lands to get himself a Sindarin name, poor fool.

You've got quite a lot of family in this city.

*flips open his appointment book* the next council meeting is tomorrow night. You should come early or after, to meet your grandmother.

Oh, I see... I read about him when I was young. He died a hero. You all did. *winces* Sorry... I never thought I would meet you. This is a beautiful city...

May I ask what? *hits a button* Gel, I need you to come in here and sort out getting Luthien to meet with me before the council meeting.

*comes in to look over Turgon's 'I can do it myself, damnit!' schedule, slipping a new pile of paperwork on the desk as he does it.*

That should deal with it... so what have you found to do so soon here?

*smiles back at Gel, trying to think what to tell to Turgon*

I will go out of the city as part of an official hunting party. I am good at that, and they said I needed to find something to do to earn my living.

[turgonthewise]

I do prefer to approve my hunters myself.

[elladan]

I thought that was his job here... He said it was an official hunting party. I thought he could choose his companions.

[turgonthewise]

He? Oh Eru, you mean Celegorm.

[elladan]

Yes... I know he killed my grandfather, but he said he'd been given a new chance. I can understand if you are disappointed in me, grand-sire, but I need a job.

*tries not to show how claustrophobic he feels inside the city*

It's not you I'm disappointed with. It's that smug egoti--*visibly stops himself*

You are allowed on the hunting party. But please bear in mind that whatever Celegorm implies, he has no actual authority in my city. I merely use his skills to help feed my people.

[elladan]

*looks visibly relieved* Thank you, grand-sire. I know who he is... was, and I suppose it cannot be easy for you to have a son of Fëanor in the city. He said Maedhros is here too. He and Maglor kidnapped my father and uncle, but they loved them neverthless.

*is still confused because he enjoyed speaking with Celegorm*

Maedhros... is currently an exception. This is one that has never done me harm and I will treat him like the innocent he is.

You have to understand, Elladan, that whenever I look in Celegorm or Feanor's face, I see my wife drowning in the icy wastes due to their hubris. And I know the other horrors they went on to do.

*feels very ashamed of himself now* I am sorry. I am being inconsiderate. I didn't know Fëanor was here too... If you wish me to stay away from them, I will.

*Elladan thinks he will have to escape the city anyway*

No. I... *thinking of how he's been controlling Lio* no, you can associate freely with whoever you please.

I just wanted you to know that Celegorm has no authority, so he doesn't mislead you.

I'd like to get to know you. I'll make sure to have Gelgannel make sure that I don't overbook myself.

*has finished writing in the schedule book and looks up* I believe there is bonding time available on fridays, your highness. *trace of sarcasm as he says bonding time, thinks of his boss as a bit of a robot that sometimes yells at things*

Well, there! We'll make fridays a thing, Elladan. *gets up and takes his grandson's hands* It truly is wonderful you've arrived here. Family is good. I don't intend to be killed this time, but knowing my line continued on warms my heart.

I will remember that, grand-sire. You don't need to worry.

*stands, smiles*

I would like to get to know you too. You and Lúthien are the only close family I have here, and if things are changing maybe it is for the good. I just need to be outside the city's walls, at least for a few hours, but I will be back always.
