Things have been busy at the House of Healing. I know Elves don't get sick, but they do get injured. And oddly, many of them seem to be having headaches lately. I didn't even know that was possible.

But there are plenty of humans, with both injuries and illness, and there are very few human healers. I've been training some of the Elf healers, but they don't always know what to do.

Laimist: *comes seeking Eowyn* We have a human in need of your attentions.
Eowyn: *nods* Show me.

Laimist: *leads and gives the pertinent facts* A child, obvious signs of malnutrition and exposure. Little girl. Barely responding to stimulus
Eowyn: Oh dear. Not eating?
Laimist: not awake enough to eat.
Laimist: She was brought in by Lord Fingon. It seems he found her passed out in an alleyway
Eowyn: Poor child.
Laimist: I was treating her, but I am unsure exactly what the levels of care a human child in that state needs. *looks over at Eowyn* I do not want to overfeed her to sickness, or starve her further
Eowyn: *sits at the child's bedside, starts examining her* I understand. Could you please have some water and juice brought? And a bowl of hot beef broth. I will try to feed her.
Laimist: Immediately. *knows Eowyn's the expert when it comes to humans, though she's doing her best to learn about them and goes to fetch*
Melkor: *not looking so great, but squirms anyway*
Eowyn: *examines her thoroughly* Shh, be still, child.
Melkor: n-no, won't take me-- *tries to kick*
Eowyn: Hush, I'm not taking you anywhere. You can rest right here. *pleased that she seems to have some strength*
Laimist: *reappears with the requested food*
Eowyn: Thank you. *indicates that she can set it on the table by the bed; continues examining the child*
Laimist: What do you think? Will she live?
Eowyn: If we can get some food and water in her. She doesn't appear to have any serious injuries, just some cuts and scratches. But she's exhausted and obviously malnourished.
Laimist: These rags she has on her... *wrinkles her nose at what Melkor tried to make into clothes* A street child that appeared here? It would explain why she never came to someone for help. Or did she appear in this state?
Eowyn: *nods* That would be my guess - that she appeared like this. Who knows how long she's been here? *to Melkor* Here, child. Try some water. *helps her to a sitting position and holds the glass for her*
Melkor: *protesting noise, but once he realizes it's water starts drinking as fast as he can*
Laimist: *busies herself getting robes for Melkor to wear instead of the rags, once she's been washed*
Eowyn: Slowly, slowly. *pulls the water away before she makes herself sick*
Melkor: *weakly* human, give me that back
Eowyn: *a bit surprised, but* No, you'll get sick if you drink it too fast.
Melkor: *angry noise, but that takes pretty much all the strength he'd gained back*
Eowyn: What's your name, child?
Melkor: *realizing that there's an elf in the room, but can't bring himself to diminish his glory* Melkor
Laimist: *simply raises an eyebrow, putting the folded robe on the bed* Humans. There was one I met the other day named like a troll! Tom.
Eowyn: The poor thing must be confused. Here, child, have a little more water.
Melkor: *drinks, even this is making him feel worlds better even if he can't even hold himself up*
Eowyn: *takes the glass away again* Are you hungry?
Melkor: give me food. N-*coughs* now.
Laimist: must have just shown up if she's this demanding. I can't imagine her not coming out after a shopkeeper
Eowyn: *arches an eyebrow, but begins to spoon broth in her mouth* Who knows? Maybe she did suffer a head injury. She does seem confused at who she is. *to Melkor* Child, do you remember your name? Where you are from?
Melkor: *eating, ignoring the questions now. Plan 1: Gain strength. Plan 2: Kill or enslave healers and then the city*
Eowyn: *stops with the broth, to give her time to rest*
Melkor: more!
Eowyn: *arches an eyebrow* Don't be rude, child.
Melkor: *tired and hungry and not feeling so great and not developed all the way in the head and it's been a long time trapped with this and just can't deal, bursts into tears*
Eowyn: *puts the broth aside* Shhh, it's alright. You're safe now.
Melkor: *clings to Eowyn*
Laimist: *to Eowyn* is there something else I should fetch? *reaches out to rub Melkor's back*
Melkor: *screams, thinking the elf is attacking him*
Laimist: *surprised and yanks her hand back*
Eowyn: Oh my! It's all right, child. No one will hurt you. *to Lai* Perhaps some soap and warm water for a sponge bath?
Laimist: *quick nod and hurries out*
Melkor: *clinging tighter to Eowyn*
Eowyn: Now just relax. We'll get you cleaned up, and in some fresh clothes, and you can rest some more.
Melkor: *little nod, a little bit of the sheer terror of being a small child in Gondolin receding as he holds onto Eowyn*
Eowyn: Good. *keeps comforting and petting* You're fine.
Melkor: don't let them get me
Eowyn: No one's going to get you, child. You're safe here.

Well, it took both me and Laimist, but we were able to give her a bath. She's clean and resting again now. Hopefully when she wakes up, she'll be able to tell us her name, at least, and maybe we can find her family.
