Today I had an ankle check before it was time to go to diner and things seem to be going as well as can be expected with it. On the way home, I ran into someone amazing.
Boromir: *is coming back from the stables, where he spent time caring for his new mare. Is covered with mud and horse hair, but happy. Notices a redhead that looks familiar* Hi! Theo, right?
Dred: *heading back from an ankle check at the healer's, hobbling a little, and turns* Hey. Dred actually. Theo's probably around somewhere if you...*then turns and slowly smiles*
Boromir: *studies the man* Ah, a case of mistaken identity...but you do look familiar. Dred? *scratches his chin*
Dred: Boromir! Oh my Eru you've found yourself here too. *pause* Theodred We've met before in the...other time... *and I'm obsessed with you*
Boromir: *grins* Theodred! Of course! *steps forward to offer his hand* It's great to see a familiar face. It's been nothing but Elves, Elves and more Elves. They're nice, but...I miss seeing humans.
Dred: I know what you mean. I've been here a bit now but it still feels...so strange. It's good to see you.
Boromir: How long have you been here? I arrived about a week ago and am in the process of joining the guard.
Dred: a few months now. I'm with the guard too. Well, I was *nods at his foot* These days I do...paperwork mostly.
Boromir: *glances down* What happened? Paperwork sounds dreadful. Any chance you can go back to active duty soon?
Dred: I broke it on the job. But it's getting better. I'm hoping in a little while. But until then it's good to know you'll be there!
Boromir: *grins* Yeah, that will be great. Especially having to go from a captain to a regular guard member, it'll be nice having a friendly face nearby. *brushes some horse hair off his cloak* And I have a new horse, too. She's lovely.
Dred: Oh really? New horses are always a good thing!
Boromir: Which way are you headed? I'll walk with you.
Dred: Oh I live in a cottage not very far. *smiles* you should come over if you have the time.
Boromir: Absolutely...as long as you don't mind a little horse hair on your floor.
Dred: *laughs* I'm from Rohan and so is Theo. We can deal
Boromir: *grins, blushing a little from embarassment* Of course...I knew that...I just forget things sometimes. I think the time-travel scrambled my brains a little.
Dred: *smiles at him* I can imagine. It's confusing at first. you do get used to it but some things...*little frown* Well I'll try to help out as much as I can .
Boromir: *looks relieved* I'd like that. Sometimes, I wake up and think it's all one big dream. I guess I'll never really consider it home. *frowns* And I miss Faramir.
Dred: *frowns* I know what you mean. I worry about my cousins without me. But it can be comfortable enough
Boromir: Maybe they can watch out for each other. *sighs* It's the not knowing that's the worst of all. If only there was a way to send a message to them to let them know where I am and make sure they are doing well. *stops and gives Dred a little smile* Sorry. I can be a bit of a worryer sometimes, especially if I can't take action.
Dred: *nodding* I get that. the whole...are they okay...is my father okay...I mean the Theo here I can look out for but...
Boromir: *blinks a few times, then his jaw drops* Theo is Theoden. I can't believe I didn't see that! He's so young! *grins* That must be really strange, seeing your dad like that.
Dred: Theo is Theoden. It's been...*laughs* well. He has a crush on Feanor. That was more than strange.
Boromir: *eyes wide* Feanor is here??? *looks slightly ill* I've read about him. I really need to start training again, just in case. You know, given his homicidal tendencies. As far as the crush goes, odd but you want who you want. I haven't given much thought to relationships myself. No time.
Dred: A...lot of Feanorians. And their cousins. *nodding* there is that yeah. I suppose it's different if you go to relatively calm stuff but... I know what you mean *and okay, distance has been his issue not that he's saying* It's more the....homocidal tendencies with Feanor that I think might be the problem, yes
Boromir: *goes into captain mode* We need a plan, just in case he loses his mind and starts killing again. *steps forward and looks into Dred's eyes* I know I can trust you, but can I trust the rest of these Elves? Would they follow him or would they stand against him?
Dred: Well. Most of the elves here are people he's wronged in some way or another. Turgon. Fingon. They lost a lot due to Feanor. I think they would be with you.
Boromir: *smiles, confident* Excellen. Then I will speak to Echthelion about it next week. *grins* And here I go again. I guess you can take the captain out of Gondor but you can't take the captain out of me.
Dred: You, without the captain? Never!
Boromir: *laughs and pats Dred's shoulder* I guess I am hard to put up with.
Dred: Oh never hard to put up with. For most people. *grins at him*
Boromir: So, um...I hear there is a Winter Festival in town. Do you know anything about it?
Dred: A little . There's going to be a masked ball and some other things. I haven't been to a festival here before but I think it should be fun. There's so many people from everywhere now that maybe it'll...bring us together...
Boromir: It does sound interesting...and fun...and are you going? Maybe we could go together? *grins hopefully* It stinks having to go everywhere by myself.
Dred: I'd love to go with you. *inner squee* It'll be much more fun that way
Boromir: *grins* It will be! So, can I come round and get you tomorrow? I'll make sure to have the horse hair removed first.
Dred: Of course you can. It'll be fun!
Boromir: *smiles big* Great! I'll see you then. And, I'm really happy we found each other. *waves and turns to go home*
Dred: *smiles back* I'm happy too. *gives him a little wave* this is going to be wonderful.
So that should be great for spending time at the festival. It's sort of like a date but not! date, right?
Boromir: *is coming back from the stables, where he spent time caring for his new mare. Is covered with mud and horse hair, but happy. Notices a redhead that looks familiar* Hi! Theo, right?
