In which I meet Maglor again...

I was leaving the castle when I heard a beautiful music...

Maglor: *playing a harp softly; is not performing yet, but just having a bit of last minute practice*

Elladan: *about to leave the castle, stops when he hears the music. He follows it and finds Maglor* Um... Hello?

Maglor: *looks up* Elladan! Hello.

Elladan: *smiles* Sorry I interrupted your practice. I was planning to look for you. I don't know if you heard, but I returned to Aman, and now I'm back again.

Maglor: It's no trouble. Come in. You've been to Aman? What...was it like?

Elladan: *comes in, takes a seat* It was the same Aman I left. I sailed in the Fourth Age with Elrohir. I was in Tirion and I saw my parents again. I forgot what happened here while I was there but... I think Father knew. Look, I found this letter for you in my pocket.

Maglor: A letter for me? *takes it, incredibly intrigued* From your father?

Elladan: That's your name, and his handwriting.

Maglor: *looks at it* Are you disappointed to be back?

Elladan: No... I saw my twin and somehow fate has brought me back here. Maybe I have something to do yet. *smiles*

Maglor: *returns the smile* That is a good way of looking at it. *holds up the letter* Should I open this now, or later?

Elladan: It is yours. I don't know what it says. I didn't even know I had it until now. You decide.

Maglor: I'll wait. *it's the politer thing* What will you do, now you're back?

Elladan: *nods* I am leaving Grandfather's castle. I will live in one of the apartments and probably join the guard. I already have a job in the Healing House but I'm not used to stay for long inside a city. I am hoping to patrol outside...

9:37 PM Jess: Maglor: That will be good, I think. Will you still work at the Healing House, or devote all your time to the Guard?

Elladan: I don't know... Maybe both. I did offer Eowyn to help her train Human healers. There aren't many and I am half-human after all. pauses I suppose I am even if I chose to be an Elf.

Maglor: Well, it certainly wouldn't erase your knowledge of humans, and I do doubt it would erase your heritage.

Elladan: I'm glad to hear that. I've felt more a Human than an Elf for a long time... I think I chose to sail because Elrohir wanted to sail, and I wanted to be with him.

Maglor: *nods understandingly*

Elladan: And now I'm back here. *grins* But tell me, what are you doing in the palace? I didn't know you and Grandfather got along so well...

Maglor: *laughs* I would hardly go that far! Findekáno is heading the planning committee, and I've agreed to play for awhile.

Elladan: Planning committee? For what?

Maglor: Oh, for the winter festival. Sorry. *grins* I suppose you missed the announcements about it, being in Valinor.

Elladan: Oh... Yes, I had no idea. You are going to play then? I will have to come then. You know, you are all famous and that *teasing*

Maglor: *laughs* Unfortunately yes.

Elladan: So it was Fingon who asked you to play? I haven't met him. I don't even know how to call him. He might be my age...

Jess: Maglor: I suppose he is your...thinks...great uncle. I'm sure when you meet him, you can work out what to call him.

Elladan: Well, I might simply call him Fingon. *doesn't want to speak more about High Kings. There is one before him and the circumstances were sad* Are you living alone too?

Maglor: Not alone. I'm living with my brother, Maedhros. You haven't met him either, I suppose?

Elladan: No, I haven't met him. With all these comings and goings... I saw Arakano once, and he was friendly. I heard your father is here, and some of your brothers.

Jess: Maglor: *nods* Arakano is wonderfully easy to get on with. And yes, three of my brothers are here, along with my father.

Elladan: That must be nice... Oh, I did meet Celegorm. I remember now. He thought I was Lúthien. Maybe I already told you about this. My memory is just a bit...

Maglor: *grins* That's right, you did! I believe you were going hunting?

Elladan: I was, but Ecthelion... I met him yesterday... He will go out with Celegorm first. I do hope he doesn't forget about the larger hunting party, or I'll have to escape the city in disguise.

Maglor: I assure you, once Celegorm has been allowed outside the city once, he will be gone hunting almost as much as he is here!

Elladan: Good! I really need some time outside. Maybe I should just sit silently and let you practice, if you don't mind me staying for a bit.

Maglor: If you like! I do not mind the company.

Elladan: Then I will stay. *smiles and settles himself more comfortably in the armchair*

Maglor: *tucks the letter in his pocket and begins playing again*

I loved hearing Maglor play. I should come back to the festival later.
