I saw a familiar face in the stables...

I have been at the Gates already, but I still need a horse...

Boromir: *brushes his mare, Aenil, happy to not be at work.* I think I enjoyed today almost as much as you did, little lady. *Aenil nickers softly and bumps him with her nose* We should do it again. How does tomorrow work for you? *grins at her*

Elladan: *comes into the stable to choose a horse of those assigned to the guard, speaks briefly with the Horse Master and then spots Boromir* Is that you, Boromir? *smiles*

Boromir: *startled and whips around, surprised to see an unfamiliar Elf who knows his name* Yes, I am Boromir. *looks the Elf up and down, but can't remember meeting him* I'm sorry, but I don't remember your name. Have we met?

Elladan: *realizes Boromir looks younger* I am Elladan, son of Elrond. I know you, but I guess you haven't met me yet. You must know about my father, though.

Boromir: *nods* Yes, I have heard of Elrond...I take it that we will meet sometime in the future. *looks a bit confused* All of the different timelines are so confusing. Did you know my brother, too?

Elladan: No, I never met Faramir. You came to Imladris, and then we walked different paths. *won't say much more*

Boromir: Strange that I would undertake such a journey without my brother. *wonders, but doesn't press further* Why did you and I take different paths? I hope I did nothing to offend you.

Elladan: *carefully* We were at war, and your brother was needed in Gondor. And no, you did not offend me. You traveled far from Imladris, and so did I, but we went different ways.

Boromir: ...at war? Then I suppose everything I feared came to pass, with darkness spreading throughout the realm. Battle can bring great honor, as well as great destruction. I am happy that both Faramir and I had the opportunity to prove our worth. *looks at Elladan* I do hope, if I ever return, there will still be a Gondor to call home.

Elladan: You both fought with honor, and yes, there was a Gondor to return to, and it was still there when I decided to sail to Aman with my twin.

Boromir: *looks relieved* That is good to know. *smiles* In fact, that is the first good news I have heard in a long time. How long have you been in Gondolin?

Elladan: A couple of weeks, maybe. I was returned to Aman briefly and came back again, this time directly to grandfather's house. I have just joined the Gates guard. I came here because I will need a horse for that.

Boromir: I see. I'm still learning the way the guard works here in Gondolin, as opposed to Gondor, but Echthelion has said I could be promoted once I'm settled in. *rubs Aenil's nose* The horses here are lovely.

Elladan: Yes, they are. *thinks of his own horse on Aman, hopes he is okay* Surely they will promote you. I'm no captain either, but it's good to be able to go outside these walls at least for a little while. I'm not used to living inside walls. I am hoping I can start tomorrow. The Horse Master told me to wait while he found a horse for me.

Boromir: Have you seen a horse that you like? I knew right away that Aenil would be the right horse for me. It's like she was the one doing the choosing. *Aenil nibbles at Boromir's coat sleeve*

Elladan: Not yet... *stops speaking when he senses a horse coming his way, led by the Horse Master* That's the one... *comes closer, pets him* Is this for me? *the Horse Master tells him that this is a gift from the King* I will have to thank him later.

Boromir: The king is very generous. His brother gifted Aenil to me, and for that I am grateful.

Elladan: *smiles and nods* He is my great great grandfather. I will make sure to visit him and thank him for this gift. I haven't met his brother... He has two, I believe... Which one?

Boromir: Oh...the youngest one, I think. Arkano? *grins* I'm terrible with names and I have met so many new people...erm...Elves...

Elladan: *grins* Arakano, yes. The youngest one. I saw him at the castle, but never really spoke with him. It was very nice of him to give you Aenil. *turns to look at his own horse* I think I will name him Elgaer. His coat is not coppery as my own horse's was, but I like the name. And I'm not good with names, either. Do you want to have a beer? I'm about to return home, but I need to relax first. It's been a busy day.

Boromir: Sure! That sounds nice, actually. I've been riding most of the day and could use a drink.

Elladan: Let's go then *smiles*

I will have to visit grandfather and thank him for my horse. He was most generous.
