Turgon: *can't believe he's doing this as he climbs the fire-escape to Finrod's room and knocks on the window*

Finrod: *leaps up, reaching for a knife, but doesn't sleep with weapons; pads over to the window* Turukáno! *hisses* What are you doing? I have a door!

Turgon: I didn't want to run into Arakano. It's a nice night out *shivering in his cloak* You should try the scenic route sometime *whispering*

Finrod: *eyes him suspiciously* Right...

Turgon: anywa, get out. I need you to come for a ride with me.

Turgon: it's important

Finrod: In the middle of the night? *frowns* Well...alright. If it's important...

Turgon: thank you. *starts climbing back down*

Finrod: *leans out* Do I have to climb down or can I go out the door?

Turgon: *waves a hand* don't wake Arakano

Finrod: *nods, getting changed into clothes suitable for riding and gets his sword before meeting Turgon outside*

Turgon: great. Come on, I'll tell you when we're outside what's going on.

Finrod: *falls into step beside him* I get the feeling you don't just want a midnight ride.

Turgon: no, not really. *gets them out through Idril's way*

Finrod: *growing concerned, but a little part of him is still excited for adventure*

Turgon: *gets on his horse, and looks to Finrod casually* So. I may have had someone murdered

Finrod: *pauses, one foot in the stirrup* You...what?

Turgon: well. Um. Well, let's get moving. I don't want the baby to get cold

Finrod: *mounts up and frowns* Baby? Turukano, please explain.

Turgon: One of the first bits of history I learned about when people started arriving was my family, and what would happen to my city

Turgon: Apparently at some point a dark elf named Eol had kidnapped my sister, raped her, and his actions are what led to Gondolin being destroyed

Turgon: *riding, looking ahead* ...so I sent a friend to kill him and save my sister.

Finrod: *stares, open-mouthed; it's only his horse trotting on of its own accord that keeps him from stopping in the middle of the path*

Turgon: ...I don't want my brothers to know what I did. So I came to you to accompany me, in case something happens

Finrod: *nods*

Turgon: And she's got a baby with her

Finrod: *rubs his eyes* I see.

Turgon: Yeah. *gallops on ahead*

Aredhel: *rocks Maeglin lightly as she waits, keeping her eyes on the pass before her*

Finrod: *inaudible sigh, urging his horse behind*

Turgon: *sound of him riding up the pass*

Aredhel: *tenses, holding her baby closer, and slips into the shadows to watch closely*

Finrod: *just behind Turgon*

Turgon: This is where she should be...

Finrod: *slows his horse, looking around*

Aredhel: *hears Turgon and steps out* Turu! *hushed tones*

Turgon: *leaps off his horse and sweeps Aredhel into his arms to hug* Hey. You're all in one piece? The message just said where to meet you and about... *looks down at Maeglin, frowning*

Finrod: *dismounts as well*

Aredhel: *hugs him with one arm and nods* I'm in one piece. *glances over at Finrod and gives him a smile* Nice to see you again, cousin.

Finrod: You too, Irissë. *embraces her as well*

Turgon: I felt I needed some help to make sure birds didn't kill me. Or something else. Ar, I've got a horrible thing to ask you.

Aredhel: *hugs Finrod back and looks to Turgon* What is it?

Turgon: Don't tell anyone what I had done. Just say you escaped on your own

Aredhel: No one knows, then?

Finrod: *rather wishes he didn't know*

Turgon: *little nod*

Turgon: I... think I mentioned it once to Fingon, but I doubt he took me seriously

Aredhel: *sighs and nods* Alright, brother. *hugs him again* Thank you...

Turgon: *kisses her cheek* what's its name?

Turgon: *wondering if it's still Maeglin or if that's changed*

Aredhel: His name is Maeglin. *smiles and holds him up so they can see his face, though he's still asleep*

Turgon: *little sigh inside* He's lovely. Come on, let's get you home.

Finrod: *really uncomfortable with this situation; smiles a bit* He's lovely.

Turgon: *quietly, to Finrod* I'm sorry.

Turgon: *helps her onto his horse*

Finrod: *nods silently*

Aredhel: *settles in and holds Maeglin to her chest* Let's go home.

Turgon: *rides down with her, trusting Finrod to watch their back*

Finrod: *swings up onto his*

Aredhel: *squeezes Turgon's hand* You seem stressed.

Turgon: don't worry about it, Ar. It's nothing you should worry about. *squeezes her hand back*

Finrod: *keeps an eye on their surroundings*

Turgon: I'm sure everyone will be excited to see you again...

Aredhel: *nods, will ask him later about it, and smiles at that* I'll be glad to see them as well. I've missed you all.

Turgon: how much did my friend tell you about what was going on?

Aredhel: Just that strange things have been happening - some magic has allowed people and elves and creatures from different times and locations to enter the city. It sounds very odd.

Finrod: Extremely.

Turgon: Well. It's late. I'll fill you in, but some of our dead relatives are no longer dead, for starters

Aredhel: *surprised look* Who is not dead?

Finrod: Fëanáro. Arakáno.

Aredhel: o.o What? Are you certain?

Turgon: Quite.

Finrod: Completely.

Aredhel: Arakano is alive?

Finrod: Yes. *smiles for real* Perfectly alive.

Aredhel: *laughs softly* It's a miracle!

Turgon: *looks down at the baby, amazed it's still asleep*

Maeglin: *chooses that moment to wake up and start crying*

Finrod: Yes.

Turgon: damnit

Finrod: *frowns, biting his lip, looking around*

Turgon: *pulls over the horse so they can get off and calm the baby*

Turgon: *still half wondering if it wouldn't be a good idea to drop it into the lake*

Aredhel: Oh my child, hush... *holds Maeglin to her chest and rocks him, singing a quiet little lullaby*

Finrod: *keeps watch*

Turgon: *goes to stand with Finrod*

Aredhel: *takes the chance to feed Maeglin, watching him finally drift off again, and sighs as she motions to her family* Let's try again, shall we? *keeping quiet*

Finrod: *glances at Turgon*

Turgon: *not sure what to say to Finrod again except an apology and helps his sister back on the horse*

Aredhel: Don't go too fast, Turu. I don't want him to bounce awake again.

Turgon: sorry, Ar. *gets them back into the city without mishap* We can go from here, Finrod. Thank you again

Finrod: *nods* Of course, Turukano.

Turgon: *goes off with his sister and nephew*

Finrod: *hurries home*

I believe now that I'm home, Turu will have many questions for me, just as I do for him. For now, though, I must get Mae to sleep!
