I've talked to that tutor the King found for Melly, and she seems like she'll do a good job. I hope Melly likes her!
Eowyn: *putting out things for tea*
Melkor: *drops a dish and covers his face as it falls*
Eowyn: What happened?
Melkor: it slipped. *looks down at the broken pieces*
Eowyn: Well, let's pick it up then.
Melkor: *mutters and tries to step safely to the broom*
Eowyn: *gets the dustpan* She'll be here soon.
Melkor: Don't want her here. I don't need a tutor
Eowyn: She's very nice, I think you'll like her.
Melkor: I can be on my own, I'm not some child
Eowyn: She's going to teach you things! How to read for one.
Melkor: can't believe I can't read *annoyed noise, sweeping up clay*
Eowyn: It will be nice to learn, won't it?
Melkor: yeah. But I don't need a babysitter!
Eowyn: I can't leave you alone, I'm afraid.
Melkor: why! *yelps as he cuts his finger on a piece of plate* ;-;
Eowyn: *sighs and takes over cleaning up* Go wash that up.
Melkor: *runs to the bathroom to get a bandaid*
Eowyn: *finishes cleaning up and getting things ready, and goes to check on Melly*
Melkor: *sitting with his dog, complaining about this interloper*
Linnor: *knocks on the door*
Eowyn: *goes to answer it* Hello!
Linnor: Hello. I hope I'm not late.
Eowyn: No, right on time. Come in, and join us for tea.
Linnor: *enters and sheds her coat; catches sight of Melkor and smiles* Hello.
Melkor: *LOOK OF DOOM*
Linnor: *just smiles and sits with Eowyn and chats*
Eowyn: *explains what she's looking for: tutor and babysitter*
Linnor: *is amenable to that*
Melkor: *walks up to Linnor*
Melkor: I don't NEED you. At all
Linnor: Good to hear.
Melkor: I don't need supervision. But you can teach me to read
Linnor: *arches an eyebrow* Well, I certainly will. A big girl like you must know how to read.
Melkor: *frowns, thinks he's being mocked* I just... didn't get around to it. That's all
Linnor: Sometimes people are busy. But it's a necessary thing to learn. *offers her a cookie*
Melkor: *takes it, chewing and keeping his eyes on Linnor in case she suddenly starts teaching him manners*
Eowyn: *hands her a napkin*
Linnor: *tells Melly about the things they will study*
Melkor: *climbs up onto a chair to look Linnor more in the eye* why would I need to know MATH
Linnor: It's helpful for handling money.
Eowyn: *watches*
Melkor: I don't like money, people should just give me what I want *pouts and looks for another cookie*
Linnor: Well, that would be very nice for all of us if that's how it worked. But it doesn't, so you might need to to use money.
Melkor: where do I get money? *looks at Eowyn*
Eowyn: When you grow up and get a job.
Melkor: A JOB?
Eowyn: *nods*
Linnor: So, you see, you have much to learn.
Melkor: this is a nightmare *rests his head on the table*
Eowyn: *chats with Linnor about pay and hours*
Melkor: sword lessons?
Linnor: *drives a hard bargain*
Melkor: I want sword lessons! Can my job be warrior?
Linnor: I don't teach sword lessons, unfortunately.
Eowyn: We've talked about this before... when you're older.
Melkor: it's still on the table though, right?
Eowyn: It's not off. But you're going to have to do a good job in your lessons with Linnor.
Melkor: ...fine. Bring on the books
Eowyn: *negotiates with Linnor for some babysitting time as well*
Linnor: *agrees, then turns to Melkor* I'll come back tomorrow, and we can start with reading.
Melkor: *trying not to look excited about being able to read and nods solemnly* agreed, mortal. *ready to babble happily to Eowyn once Linnor is gone*
Eowyn: We'll see you tomorrow then!
Linnor: *nods* Thanks for the tea. *stands to leave*
Melkor: bring a book about fighting
Linnor: I'll see what I can do.
Melkor: very good. *fidgeting in his seat with anticipation*
Eowyn: *sees her out*
Melkor: *leaps at Eowyn once Linnor is gone and hangs from her arm* nothing can stop me if I'm reading!
Eowyn: That's the plan. *smiles*
Melkor: we have to get lots of books for practice
Eowyn: Not to worry, we will.
Melkor: good!
Eowyn: You will be brilliant.
Well, it didn't go badly. We'll have to see what happens.
Eowyn: *putting out things for tea*
