A surprise invitation
I wonder why the King is stopping by.
Turgon: *has sent a formal note announcing his intentions to call on Eowyn that evening*
Eowyn:*wonders whats up; tidies up for a kingly visit*
Melkor: *grumbles as he carries his art supplies to where they belong, trailed by Eddie*
Eowyn: Thank you, Melly!
Melkor: I don't want an elf here!
Eowyn: He is the king and has been very kind to you.
Melkor: rrrr.
Eowyn: *gives her a Look*
Melkor: do I have to see him?
Eowyn: Not if you're going to be rude.
Melkor: I would be SO rude
Eowyn: You can stay in your room.
Melkor: *whoops in joy*
Eowyn: Edric can keep you company.
Melkor: yes he can *grins and runs off with the dog*
Eowyn: *has pie and coffee and tea, in case the king wants refreshments*
Turgon: *arrives on time and knocks politely*
Eowyn: *opens the door* Hello...
Turgon: *smiles and holds out a bottle of wine* Hello, Eowyn. May I come in?
Eowyn: Of course... *welcomes him into the cottage*
Turgon: Lovely home. I've a request for you, madam.
Eowyn: Oh?
Turgon: I could use an escort for the spring festival, and was wondering if you'd do me the honour
Eowyn: *surprised* Me? *had assumed it would be something to do with the house of healing*
Turgon: normally, my escort would be the captain of the guard, but for various reasons... *not ready to call it any sort of date, still feels like cheating*
Eowyn: *nods* I see. Well. I'd very much like to join you.
Turgon: wonderful! *beaming* you get to arrive in a carriage
Eowyn: How lovely! *wonders if he wants her to go to the dancing later*
Turgon: *realizes something* about your foster daughter...
Eowyn: Perhaps I'll have her nanny bring her... *thinking*
Turgon: that may be best. I expect it will be very boring for her
Eowyn: Well, she might like the carnival part of it.
Turgon: the parts the king has to doe
John: do
Eowyn: Yes, she can definitely skip that. Perhaps I'll take her early in the day, if you won't need me then.
Turgon: that sounds like a good plan. There's not a lot for children, I admit. They're a definite minority in Gondolin
Eowyn: Seems like there are more and more of them, with all the humans showing up.
Turgon: and they seem to be creating their own
Eowyn: It's a human thing. *smiles*
Turgon: ingenious. *smiles back, rather likes Eowyn's smile*
Eowyn: If any elven men fall for human women, they might be surprised by the number of children. *amused*
Turgon: *eyes widen* i'll keep that in mind
Eowyn: *is just joking* I imagine it could be a shock!
Turgon: I can imagine. I'll see you tomorrow, then? Five pm
Eowyn: *oh my will have to get something appropriate to wear!* Yes, that will be fine.
Turgon: *bows* You honour me.
Eowyn: As you do me, your majesty.
Melkor: *peeks out once Turgon's gone* what did he want? Was it about me?
Eowyn: *shakes head* No, no.
Melkor: GOOD. The elves can't know I'm Melkor.
Eowyn: They won't, not to worry. *still thinks she is playing along here*
Melkor: *drags out all his art supplies and gets to work drawing an elaborate drawing of an orc battle beneath the cherry trees in the garden's*
I must go shopping. RIGHT AWAY.
