Mrooowl!

(This chat takes place during this chat)

Stupid human. He should be feeding me and instead I must follow him after crazy elf for guarding! Stupid fish-elf! I should be following crazy elf and stupid dog and not having my human do it! Human not safe. Human stupid.

At least we go somewhere else now. Better be food. Better be pettings.

Oh, it's with Old Human. She is okay.

Theoden: *finished with the trailing of Celegorm and left a report for Lio, and not sure what to do with himself since Lio's not back and he feels like an idiot and not sure where to get advice*

Dagnir: *arrived for his daily walk home for Theo, was trailing him most of the day anyway*

Theoden: we're going to go see Eowyn, Dag. *picks him up, hugging his cat* Should we get pie?

Dagnir: mooow

Theoden: you're right, pie is always welcome. Come on. *sets off to pick up food and go to Eowyn's*

Eowyn: *actually has just made a cake*

Theoden: *knocks while Dagnir bats at a flower in her garden*

Eowyn: *opens the door* Theo!

Theoden: I have pie and a cat. The cat doesn't understand 'go home' so he followed me here. I also really messed up today

Eowyn: You did? Well come in, and we can eat pie and you can tell me about it.

Theoden: *comes inside, nearly tripping when Dagnir races by and takes up residence on the couch*

Dagnir: mrooowl

Theoden: I found a silmaril, and lost a silmaril, and undermined my captain

Eowyn: I'll make some tea -- *stops* You did what?!

Theoden: Yeah. I was smart enough not to punch a Feanorian, though

Eowyn: Oh no. Sit down. *puts the kettle on for tea and cuts them each a slice of pie* Tell me about it.

Theoden: *sits and oofs when Dagnir hops into his lap and pets* Well. I was looking at the cottage me and Dred were going to get and I saw something glittering in the garden. *strokes Dagnir's head* And Celegorm showed up and his dog went after Dagnir and then that stupid elf demanded to see what I' found, it was the silmaril, and I should have just refused to let him take it and taken it right to Lio...

Theoden: *stops for breath*

Eowyn: Oh my.

Theoden: Anyway, he told me it was a silmaril, and I decided I'd take it to Feanor so Feanor wouldn't go on some sort of war to get it, I should have taken it to Lio, and Celegorm stole it, shook me, and left with it. Laughing at me

Eowyn: *pats his hand; poor kid* That sounds very unpleasant!

Theoden: yeah. And now the Captain's upset with me, I think. I messed up badly. *kicks his feet and just looks so miserable*

Eowyn: I'm so glad you didn't get hurt.

Theoden: I shouldn't have let him take it.

Theoden: and what if his dog had hurt Dagnir? I couldn't even turn away from him

Eowyn: *shakes her head* You couldn't have fought him and won.

Theoden: he didn't respect me. At all. *frowns*

Eowyn: Well, he's a Feanorian. They're known for their arrogance, aren't they?

Theoden: I know, but... *frowns* I let the silmaril go. What if something bad happens because of it>

Eowyn: Were you armed and on-duty? Ready to protect yourself against him?

Theoden: no. I was dressed like this.

Eowyn: Well, even better that you didn't get into it with him

Theoden: *frowns* I want to be a good guard. I don't want to be--be useless

Eowyn: Well, maybe you need to talk to your Captain about this. I doubt he thinks you're useless, but I can't imagine why he'd send you up against someone like Celegorm on your own, and unarmed.

Theoden: he did send me out again, to watch him.

Eowyn: So it doesn't seem he considers you useless.

Theoden: *little nod* I guess...

Eowyn: I'm very glad you weren't hurt.

Theoden: *little nod* I guess I should be glad I didn't die.

Eowyn: What made you think he'd obey you anyway?

Theoden: I'm a guard! You listen to guards!

Eowyn: *smiles* Not everyone listens to guards.

Theoden: those are criminals 'm supposed to arrest

Eowyn: So you want to arrest Celegorm for being a criminal?

Theoden: Lio said no. *doesn't notice using a familiar term for the captain* But he did steal. And he could cause a lot of harm

Eowyn: Shouldn't this be up to your captain to decide? And the silmaril wasn't actually yours to be stolen - if anything, Celegorm *does* have a right to it.

Theoden: ... yeah. *looks down* You're right

Eowyn: *pets his hand again comfortingly* It does sound like he's a big jerk. But you can't make him do what you want, just because you want.

Theoden: what am I supposed to do?

Eowyn: Well, talk to your Captain and see what he suggests. My main advice is not to go after Fëanorians on your own.

Theoden: ...can I tell you something that you can't tell anyone?

Eowyn: *cautiously* Yes?

Theoden: ...part of why I wanted to give Feanor the silmaril was so he'd like me more

Eowyn: o_O

Eowyn: *slowly* You want.... Fëanor to like you?

Theoden: ...yes.

Eowyn: Why?

Theoden: He's... well, he's very handsome... *stroking Dagnir a little harder in nervousness*

Dagnir: *nips Theo's fingers*

Theoden: ack!

Eowyn: He's Fëanor!

Theoden: Yes, I know!

Eowyn: So... you.... still want to sleep with him?

Theoden: *bright red, doesn't answer*

Eowyn: Is this reciprocal?

Theoden: I'm not sure he remembers my name

Eowyn: *sighs* Oh Theo.

Theoden: *frowns, hugging his cat*

Theoden: it's not like the captain would have ever let me even try with him

Eowyn: Wait, what?

Theoden: Before Feanor. *really means still* it was the captain. That I liked.

Eowyn: So because he wasn't interested, you thought Fëanor would be the better choice? *trying not to smile*

Theoden: *red* no. I mean. I just didn't see why I shouldn't let myself move on

Eowyn: Well, I'm not sure about the wisdom of moving on to Fëanor, but if it's interfering with your job, that's not good.

Theoden: I'm so stupid. *drops his head to hide in Dagnir's fur*

Dagnir: Mrowl?

Eowyn: *pets* You're not stupid.

Theoden: I feel stupid.

Eowyn: I'm sorry.

Theoden: thanks for listening. I haven't... I haven't got anyone here I've been able to ask advice of

Eowyn: Poor Theo. I'm glad you came over.

Theoden: me too. Today's been a bad day

Eowyn: *gives him a quick hug* Tomorrow will be better.

Theoden: yeah, tomorrow I might find a dragon and try to ride it

Eowyn: Perhaps not a good idea.

Theoden: or fall in love with my own grandfather or something

Eowyn: I hope not!

Theoden: that'd be gross

Eowyn: Grosser than a mass murderer?

Theoden: he... doesn't seem like one. When I talked to him.

Eowyn: Still.

Theoden: the king said he got a second chance. I'm treating him like a blank slate

Eowyn: *wryly* Maybe try that with Celegorm too.

Theoden: yeah, well, unlike Feanor, Celegorm's being a dick to me

Eowyn: So your plan is to be a dick back?

Theoden: How am I being a dick!

Eowyn: Well, I'm not saying he's not a jerk, but ordering him around as a guard, when you're not on duty, wasn't a good move. And deciding he stole something from you that wasn't actually yours.... well. I'm just saying, maybe don't hold a grudge.

Theoden: well, I mean, I think it counted as police custody. *frowns* Something so important

Eowyn: *smiles* But you weren't planning on keeping it in police custody. It sounds like you're more angry that he foiled your plan to give it to Fëanor.

Theoden: *bright red still and can't really deny that*

Eowyn: Celegorm doesn't sound very nice. But maybe try not to make an enemy of him?

Theoden: ...yeah. I'll try to avoid getting into fights with him

Eowyn: Good. That's a good idea.

Theoden: *sighs* and Lio told me I couldn't tell Feanor about the silmaril

Eowyn: That might be a good idea.

Theoden: back to plan a of getting on his good side

Eowyn: I have no advice on that!

Theoden: I was visiting him with coffee and friendliness

Eowyn: Well. Hopefully it works.

Theoden: Yeah. *little dreamy sigh, daydreamy look* He's just so... there's something about him. Like a fire

Eowyn: Oh. Oh dear.

Theoden: what?

Eowyn: Nothing. Just be careful.

Theoden: okay. I should... probably look up how it even works.

Eowyn: How WHAT works?

Theoden: you know. With men.

Eowyn: Well, you're on your own there. What makes you think Fëanor likes men?

Theoden: I don't know. But what if he does and I have no idea what to do and make a fool of myself? The closest I know is the er, 'jokes' the riders would make.

Eowyn: I think you need to figure this one out on your own. *smiles*

Theoden: I could check the library

Eowyn: Good luck!

Theoden: thanks. *little smile*
