Theo: *setting out food for Dred so he doesn't have to spend much time on his ankle to cook dinner* Heading out tonight for a... thing

Dred: Oh? *finishes up with the the report he's looking over* that sounds...vague.

Theo: *suddenly very intent on the carrots he's peeling* Just a thing. Talking to lord Fingon about uh, duties he wants me to do at the festival.

Dred: Oh really? He seems to really like you. that's good then! Maybe it's an in with Feanor

Theo: I... am not sure this would exactly work out that way. Towards getting Feanor. Since it's sort of a date

Dred: Ooh with Fingon? Well he's very very pretty. But aren't he and his cousin...*handwave* I meaan the books don't say it explicitely but...

Theo: he said they were best friends. So I'm gonna go with no, he's probably not in an incestuous relationship with his cousin

Dred: Well you just never know. I mean elves. *grins* But so. Fingon. that's really..is he as dashing as they say?

Theo: he's... *thinks* incredibly handsome. And made me feel all warm when he was flirting with me

Dred: warm huh? *okay that's adorable*

Theo: and it's not like Feanor can even recognize me yet so I'm not doing anything wrong by seeing what else is out there... And he said he wouldn't cut my head off if I messed up

Dred: Of course you aren't. you deserve to be happy with someone who'll notice you're alive and things. ...I should hope not.

Theo: avenge me, though. If he does.

Theo: he really likes my hair. *grins*

Dred: Oh really now? *grins* andd I wonder WHY. *laughs* Seriously though. I do think the braid works for you

Theo: it'd be everywhere if I didn't braid it. And I can just see it getting caught in my chainmail and the horrors that would then ensue

Dred: that would be really bad. *nods* We had that happen to one of the girls at home who want to be shieldmaids but haven't had much of a chance yet. Had to cut her out of her helmet

Theo: *snickers* Sorry. I shouldn't laugh. That's almost happened to me a few times

Dred: Doesn't look pleasant at all, no. It must HURT.

Theo: and no one has any pity. Anyway. *done with the food prep* I'm off. And hell, if the captain doesn't find out the real reason Fingon requested me, maybe it'll look good for work

Dred: He won't hear anything from me. Good luck. *pause* Uh...be careful and things? From what you've said, and I've read, he's honorable and a gentleman and all but you're still, you know, going to someone's room and all.

Theo: what should I be afraid of? *blinks*

Dred: Just...well, remember that if you decide you don't want to, you can say no things likee that

Theo: *blinks again, then goes bright red* Oh. Right. Yeah.

Dred: Just...you know. Stuff like that.

Theo: *quick nod, thinking about how much BIGGER Fingon is* Got it. I'll see you when I get back, if you're still awake

Dred: *gives him a little salute* Have fun!

And I DID have fun. Or I will, at any rate. Fingon really does seem fascinated with my hair )

I don't even know what I was worried about now.

So. It's time for a bit of a coffee break. I met someone on the steps

earlier today and sort of thought he was Maitimo and hugged the shit out of this stranger and we got to talking about things and I sort of think I freaked him a little

in which Theo asks Fingon out. Sort of )

But now we're going to coffee so that I can make things up to him. He seems to be very nice and has lovely hair so that's a good start, right?

I have decided to join the guards. After all, I cannot sit around and wait for something to happen. I must follow my calling to be the best soldier I can be. And, there are shiny horses!

Boromir: *shuts the door to his apartment and steps outside, feeling out of sorts. He walks down to the main square of town and looks around, unsure of what he should be doing.*

Dagnir: *races between Boromir's legs, carrying something in his mouth*

Theo: *chasing after and doesn't quite manage to dodge Boromir*

Boromir: *steadies Theo with his hands and grins* Is that your cat?

It's the biggest cat I've ever seen. )

It's good to know I get along 0 for 0 of Feanor's kids so far. That's really good for my confidence. And not terrifying at all dealing with a bunch of giants glaring down at me or mocking me.

There's two more in the city, according to the report the captain gave us. Let's see what happens if I meet one of the other ones.

Studying elf anatomy to answer questions has been enlightening. I'm really glad I'm bigger than a regular Rohirrim, let me tell you.

Work related, I have nothing to do. It's my two days off. I like how the winters are here, back in Rohan it'd be covered in feet of snow already and we'd be counting off what's frozen to death. Although... *looks up at the clouds, noticing them gathering and dark grey*

I hope that's rain coming.
princetheoden: (Awkward)
[personal profile] princetheoden
Okay, so as I discussed with Theodred, the only historical examples of elf/human I knew of was elf woman and human man, so I decided to familiarize myself a bit with Feanor's... well, anatomy.

With a book. Because I doubt I could have gotten him to strip for an examination.

Theoden: *mentally goes over smooth replies in his head and enters the House of History in search of a specific book, glad that their printing presses have made it so he doesn't have to stay and study inside the house*
And I meet the crankiest book clerk ever )

Apparently I come off as a spy now?
luthien_tinuviel: (Laughing)
[personal profile] luthien_tinuviel
Theo: *wondering if this is meant to be a punishment for failing at trailing duty as he cheerfully shovels and listens to the breathing and noises of the horses*

Luthien: *busily exploring the vast hidden city, deciding on a whim to visit the stables and see the horses. She hums a jaunty tune (one that Daeron had written for her) as she pokes her head in and looks around, not noticing Theo at first*

A chat in the stables )
princetheoden: (Smile)
[personal profile] princetheoden

Theoden: *still in his front yard, rubbing his temples* So much for cooking dinner for Theodred. Can you cook? *looks down at Dagnir* of course not. Bring him some mice. I've got to go talk to the captain. *opens the door for the cat and walks to the guardhouse*

Ecthelion: *going over the warg reports*
A lecture from the Captain and a visit with Feanor )

So to sum up. The Captain's pissed I was making decisions about war-causing gems by myself which is... well, it's very justified. Learned my lesson there.

Of course, not enough to not tell the owner because concealing things is wrong. If you don't understand that, then you don't understand Rohirrim.

I'm not worried about Celegorm telling Feanor about my interests anymore, it'll be a long time before he'll be focused enough to put two and two together, I think. *holding little horse statue tightly*

He's really the most handsome man I'd ever seen. And I'll be fine, as long as I'm careful. He doesn't seem like he's a timebomb like the Captain was acting. And I can make my own decisions, I'm not a child.

FEANORIANS

Theoden: *finished trailing Celegorm for the day as assigned by Lio, having waved off Angwen and Essam off and walking back, prepared to yet again report 'no, he still hasn't blown anything up but I'm sure he will'*

Dagnir: *hops down from where he was trailing Theo to make sure he was okay and walks beside*
You know what would make this situation suck? Actually having to talk to Celegorm )

Damn damn damn damn damn DAMN!
[personal profile] elladan
I was bored and in need of adventure, but I didn't think someone would grant my wishes...

Theoden: *starting leg two of his shift's patrol, thinking more about what to cook for supper at his new cottage than his work since it's near the end of the day and nothing terrible's happened yet so CLEARLY nothing terrible is going to happen because time limit or something*

Elladan: *tries to make his horse stop from galloping into the strange light. When he wished he could escape Valinor he didn't mean to escape the circles of the world. Suddenly he is no longer outside Tirion but in the middle of... some sort of city... Looks up...* "Okay... Whoever is angry, can you take me back with my twin?"

Theoden: *standing in the middle of the mostly abandoned due to hour street staring at Elladan, hand on his sword*

Elladan: *glad he has his knife*: "Who are you, boy?"

Theoden: I prefer 'officer'. And it's Theoden. Who are you? And this question will make a whole lot more sense soon, but when are you from?"

In which I wonder if I am beyond the circles of Arda... )

Mrooowl!

Stupid human. He should be feeding me and instead I must follow him after crazy elf for guarding! Stupid fish-elf! I should be following crazy elf and stupid dog and not having my human do it! Human not safe. Human stupid.

At least we go somewhere else now. Better be food. Better be pettings.

Oh, it's with Old Human. She is okay.

Theoden: *finished with the trailing of Celegorm and left a report for Lio, and not sure what to do with himself since Lio's not back and he feels like an idiot and not sure where to get advice*

Dagnir: *arrived for his daily walk home for Theo, was trailing him most of the day anyway*

Theoden: we're going to go see Eowyn, Dag. *picks him up, hugging his cat* Should we get pie?
Theo gets advice from Eowyn, Dagnir probably doesn't really care )

Theo: *reading the Noldor version of the Kama Sutra*

Theo: *takes notes, not noticing Dred*
Books are good for curiousity, right? )

I'm glad I met Dred. I was actually feeling pretty isolated in this city until I got a cat, and then Theodred, and Eowyn in short order.

I mean, I can ask both advice (I cannot ask the cat advice, he just meows for more food) and Dred's starting to feel like family. Like an older brother!

Of course, I may have strained it a bit with my request but I cannot even imagine asking anyone else about... well. And I want to know what the heck I'm doing in the 0.5% chance I succeed with Feanor. Or Ecthelion.

I'd say this hormone problem will die off with time, but my dad still managed to go crazy in run off love with my much taller, younger, and not-Rohirric mom when he was an old man so apparently it's genetic, thanks, Dad. Thanks.
princetheoden: (Happy)
[personal profile] princetheoden
So me and Dred are moving out of the apartments to a cottage. The cottage seems fruitful, what with the garden sprouting silmarils and all that, but hopefully in the future it'll stick to things like herbs and beans.

Some of our shift's come to help us move, and Dagnir is helping by trying to take people out whenever they're carrying a heavy box. It's a fun game of 'don't step on the cat because the cat will remove your leg at the knee'.

The cottage comes with furniture, so mostly what we're moving is my books, I've sort of accumulated a lot of them learning about this world and what's going on, and clothes and stuff like that. All of Dred's stuff fit in one box.

There's jussst enough of us that we should be able to get everything to the cottage in one trip and then have beer and whatever food we finally manage to decide on on the way.

The cottage itself is to the north, and near enough to the wall that it'll be an easy walk to go up and look out at the lake and mountains from the walls whenever I feel like it. I've been telling Dred about the giant shadows that live in the water, because I like seeing him go all big eyed.

It's further to the guard station, but with the vehicles they're working on for us, that might not be a problem at some point. Or I could learn how to use a bike. Given how little traffic this area receives, that's actually a possibility since there'll be less people to watch me fall on my face.

...still feeling pretty down about what went down with the silmaril, but wiser people than me have been advising me to just let go and not do something stupid like start a private war with a Feanorian over it.

I just want to get some paperwork done. Is that too much to ask?

Theoden: *gone to Lio when he couldn't find Feanor*
Ecthelion: *working*
Theoden: sir, I found a silmaril and Celegorm stole  it from me

Evidently it is FAR too much to ask... )

Oh, Eru. Having Fëanor and Celegorm here might kill us all. I'm going to have to tell Turgon about this. And then I will have to speak to Theoden later, about his loyalties and responsibilities. And THEN talk to Celegorm about respecting my guards. *sigh* I'll never get any paperwork done.
princetheoden: (Looking at you)
[personal profile] princetheoden
I've been asking any of the guards if they've seen Feanor out and about, which apparently is no because you know he's around because other elves are bolting it. So I figured he must be lonely and you know, I did say I'd show him the House of Artificers and someone needs to be welcoming.

Sure, he's got a history, but I heard the king. He's got a second chance now.

Also he's really really handsome.

Theoden: *stores away his gear at the guardhouse at the end of his shift and heads out, running through his head how to say 'Hi! I've come to see if you'd like a tour and... and stuff'*
Theo nearly dies multiple times in this log and never even realizes it )

You know, I think this is a thousand more times ill-advised than my crush on the captain, but, you know, bad boys. Genociders. The usual attraction thing.

*wanders the Halls of Mandos, wondering if anyone newly dead and interesting will arrive today; is, in fact, a little bored*

Fëanor: *blinks when he finds himself walking down a street, not wandering the Halls of Mandos* Oh.

This could all end in tears... )

I'm not sure about this apologetic thing, although it does seem like the thing to do. Just not sure I'm totally sorry. Yet. Maybe.

"Phones" sound interesting though.

In any case, might be a good idea to lie low for a bit.

And here's the next three diary pages I was working on:

Theoden on recent events )
princetheoden: (Talking)
[personal profile] princetheoden
I've been planning to add some pages to this, so here's the old pages.

Old intro to the diary: Theo's premise is that when he appeared in Gondolin and was getting himself sorted, he was informed that human royalty/leaders were being taken on by Turgon to help advise the care and governing of humans. Theoden, feeling a little out of sorts from a particularly troubled time in his time in Rohan (facing such things as his conflicts with the Riders due to his father's Gondorianization of Rohan, inability to speak Rohirric, and general anxiety about when he'd inevitably be king as his father was quite old by this point. In fact, in canon his father would be dead a decade later) chose instead to conceal his heritage and take work as a guard.

Also, Theoden enjoys doodling on long night guarding when nothing's really happening.

The Diary )

I've been here a while now, and not seen another Rohirrim. Wouldn't you know, the first one I meet is... my uncle. Sort of.

In which Eowyn meets Theoden... )
princetheoden: (Smooth)
[personal profile] princetheoden
So life's not so lonely in the city anymore. Dred's been coming over most nights for whatever. And I've got my cat.

'Cat'. Dagnir. He's kind of sweet, but he's terrible to wake up to.

Discussing the job and living arrangements )

And I told Dred he'd have to help me bathe Dagnir to make him less generally nasty, and I meant it.

Bathing Dagnir )

So the rain finally stopped! Which is good. Which is nice. So it's just me, the mud, and the boring part of my patrol.
